Gearing up for CHA

CHA starts this weekend, and all anyone unfamiliar with the event needs to know is that it’s the biggest annual get-together in the craft world calendar. Industry professionals gather for new products launches, peeks at new lines, workshops, education and so much more. Sure, there’s a fair amount of chit chat and socializing, making connections, meeting new people and finding old friends, but my over-riding memory of the show is the oohs and aahs I hear over fabulous creations on display which have been made by design teams and professional crafters.

Today I’m sharing a peek at some of the creations that will be on display in the Fiskars booth (booth #1000 – stop by and say hello if you’re attending).

Here are my humble offerings – a large crochet rug made with yarn cut from yards and yards of jersey knit. Thank goodness for GREAT scissors! I had to cut 20 yards of fabric into strips and then crochet it into a rug! Whilst this project takes a while to make, it’s worth it!

My second project is a set of map cushions, made using google map images and printed on to fabric by Spoonflower. Can you guess which cities might appear on these cushions?

Here’s a beautiful collage of work created by Smitha Katti for the booth. What can I say? She is a true artist! I can’t wait to see these things in person.smitha collageI can’t complete this post without giving this fox a special mention. Created by Stephenie Hamen, this mixed media canvas is going to be fawned over for sure – I can almost hear the oohs and aahs already!

  1. Oh the rug is so fun and I love those pillows that you made! The booth is going to look so colorful and pretty. I wish I was going but I do not think I have the energy to attend this year. I just got done with an amazing two day work shop with Prima and that has worn me out. Maybe next year! :0) Happy CHA to you and rest those tired toes when you can!
