A Challenge with Good Intentions

I shared that I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions in the traditional meaning of the word.  Resolutions are often broken and bring negative feelings of failure that overshadow the spirit in which the resolution was made in the first place.  No, I don’t have any ‘resolutions’ this year.  This year, I want to look at my intentions and add fulfillment to my life.  I want to enrich my family life, my physical well being and my Fisk-a-Passion.

There are fine things which you mean to do some day, under what you think will be more favorable circumstances. But the only time that is surely yours is the present, hence this is the time to speak the word of appreciation and sympathy, to do the generous deed, to forgive the fault of a thoughtless friend, to sacrifice self a little more for others. Today is the day in which to express your noblest qualities of mind and heart, to do at least one worthy thing which you have long postponed, and to use your God-given abilities for the enrichment of someone less fortunate. Today you can make your life - significant and worthwhile. The present is yours to do with as you will.  Quote by Grenville Kleiser.

I like this quote. It is perhaps a little too idealistic about the way that one lives her life, but it is a good instruction about how one can live her life… with something of good intention everyday.  How will I define ‘good intentions’?  The way I look at it, I have 365 chances to define my good intentions.  And that Is a positive thing!

Some people like to start a new year off with something new to help them with their new goal.  Maybe a new journal, perhaps a gym membership or new sneakers, maybe even a new orange toothbrush (thanks, Betsy!).  But how would You like to start off the new year with a brand new trimmer?

Here’s my challenge.  Create a scrapbook page about your intentions for 2010.  How You define Your intentions is completely up to You.  It could be a goal of something that You want to accomplish.  Or it can just be an intention to live a certain way.

Upload Your scrapbook page to the Fiskateer gallery and leave a link here.  I will draw a random winner on Monday, January 11th to receive a Fiskars premium crafter’s trimmer.

Just a little something to help You out if one of your intentions for 2010 happens to be to craft more!

I look forward to seeing all Your layouts.  Thanks for sharing.

My goal is to lose weight and to work on my ability to stay in the now. I plan on doing more meditations than I have in the past, and I’ll try to exercise to help with the first goal. I’ve ignored my weight and health for too long and hope it’s not too late to recover some flexibility in my body.
I love Fiskars and crafting because they keep me from eating irresponsibly!!

Hi Kelly Jo. I too do not like to make resolutions I can’t keep. Instead this year I made a list of small projects around the house with the month I intend to accomplish each. This month is finish organizing my craft room, (and I am almost done) I also want to try to become more creative with my scrap book pages. Here is a page I created this morning. Last fall I took a trip with my mom and aunts to the Amish country in PA. the girls are 78, 90, and 84.
