Let’s Welcome In the New Moon, the New Year and New Decade

I just wanted to wish all a wonderful New Year. We are off to some friends for a low key, family fun celebration. I also wanted to share that while we wrap up a decade and ring in a new one . . . we are doing so with uniqueness as a planet.
You’ve probably heard the expression . . . “Once in a Blue Moon”. Well, there’s some reason to that and tonight . . . all over the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe, Africa and the Eastern Hemisphere we will get to view the ‘blue moon’. It doesn’t have to do with the color of the moon but as defined by the Canadian Press “is the second full moon in a month”. You can read more here. The next time we will see a blue moon on New Year’s Eve will be 2028 so enjoy!
I am so grateful for 2009 and all of you who bless me each and every day! Who knows what this next decade will bring for all of us fiskateers. Warmest wishes for a Happy and Inspiring New Year and Decade!

I was on the phone with my mom when I saw the moon come up and we talked about it being “blue.” It prompted me to call my husband’s maternal aunt, because I remember the first time I learned of the true meaning of blue moon she and I were together. So, I talked to her about it also. Then when I spoke to his paternal aunt, I mentioned the blue moon to her. I thought for sure she would know what it was, because she is a crosssword puzzle expert and just loves words and trivia. She is 81 and I am proud to say, I taught her something today!
I have loved getting to become a Fisk-a-teer in 2009 and I hope to be writing to all of you and telling you happy new year during the next new year’s eve blue moon!
And, Cheryl, thank you for being such a welcoming friend in my new crafting community! I have enjoyed getting to know you and hope that 2010 brings many blessings to you and your family!
