Pre-Party Prep!

A party is always better when you can do a little advance planning, don’t ya think?  That’s why I’ve decided to post all of my online crop challenges tonite!  I know everyone is busy this time of year (myself included), so I thought a little extra time to complete the challenges would be helpful!  I won’t be around too much on Saturday, but I’ll be here Sunday, and I’m feeling rather sneaky.  Make sure you keep your eyes on the message board! 

Now, let’s get to the challenges.  The deadline for all of the challenges is Monday, December 7th at 11 am EST.  All of the projects need to be new projects, and they can’t be used to enter any of the other challenges that will be posted for the online crop! 

Rebecca’s Challenge #1 - Create a scrapbook layout about some of your holiday traditions.  It can be any size, but it needs to include ribbon and a decorative border treatment.  Post a pic of it in your gallery, and leave a comment here that includes a link and the challenge #. 

Rebecca’s Challenge #2 - Perform a Random Act of Kindness this weekend that does NOT involve a gift.  Shovel an elderly neighbor’s sidewalk (if it’s snowing where you’re at), help an old lady like Angela across the street (just kidding Ang), let someone with fewer items than you get ahead of you in the checkout line, etc., etc.  There are plenty of ways for us to give someone a gift without having to spend money!  I have posted a thread on the message board so that everyone can post their story there.  Challenge #2 Post

Rebecca’s Challenge #3 - For those of you with kids!  When my kids ask me to craft or play a game with them, too often I hear myself telling my kids “not now” or “later”.  I’m trying to do that less this holiday season, because before I know it they’ll be grown and won’t want to spend as much time with me anymore!  So, here’s the challenge for all of you that have children:  Take the time you would spend making a project for me, and go spend it with your kids instead!  Play a game, read a book, make a craft together!  Then, have your kids help you post what you did together on this thread:  Challenge #3 Post 

Rebecca’s Challenge #4 - Get out the sewing machine!  Make a quick and easy holiday gift for someone with a little fabric, a little sewing, and a lotta love!  Need some inspiration?  Check out these great ideas on the Fiskars Crafts website!  Post a pic in your gallery and leave a comment for challenge #4 here with a link to your project.

Rebecca’s Challenge #5 - Tag, you’re it! - I never seem to have enough gift tags!  Make a set of five gift tags, post a pic in your gallery, and leave a comment here for challenge #5 with a link to your project.

    Hey Rebecca….great Challenges! I love the one about spending time with the kids…and also “giving” of your time to help others……such a reward in itself to see the joy on people’s faces when you offer to help out in some way……I’m sure we all know someone that may need a helping hand with something this Christmas…..could be mowing the lawn,weeding the garden,sewing for someone,offering to do the grocery shopping,cooking a meal….so much we can help others with…..great challenges!

    I also used the scalloped circle punch and the little heart punch. The ribbon that I used was quite thin and stiff with a papery quality. It is some kind of fabric though because the fibers fray. I found that my punch could handle it and I ran it thru the little Xyron to minimize the fraying.

    I tried to come up with a tradition we have (that I actually have photos of, the only one I could think of was my Christmas baking and I did that last year for a challenge,) but then I realized how much mom looked forward to receiving photo cards of her granddaughters each year, it has kind of become a tradition.
