November 26th, 2009 at 6:54 amHappy Thanksgiveing Angela, and to all of the US Fiskateers. The first thing I noticed was that the potato ricer was orange. I’m drawn to any kitchen tool that is orange too. I do like to cook, and have been cooking on my own for 48 years. I hope that all of your turkey dinners turn out wonderful.

November 26th, 2009 at 7:28 amI have to admit that I was sort of forced into cooking when I was around 14. My mom worked full time (my dad passed away when I was 11) and she would plan & prepare the meals before she left for work in the morning. Since I got home from school around 3:45, she had me do the cooking. She wrote out a long list of what to do each morning & I just had to follow her notes as to cooking times. She had the potatoes peeled, the meat out thawing, etc. So cooking for me was pretty easy & after spending most of my high school years being in charge of cooking, I ended up learning how to cook. lol
I missed out on our Thanksgiving this year as I was sick & am so craving turkey. I even have 2 small ones in my freezer. I think I’m going to have to break down & cook one over the weekend if DS is going to be home. Otherwise, I’ll probably do it next week.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving & turkey dinners everyone…save me some turkey. lol I’m with your hubby Angela…I have to have canned cranberry sauce with mine too!! (I prefer the jellied one!)

November 26th, 2009 at 10:25 amHappy Thanksgiving Ang !
Many use a ricer for their potatoes but it’s so much easier to just mash, smash, or beat them! LOL
Yesterday , I made a pumpkin roll, 2 pumpkin pies, a cherry pie and some of Tona’s choc crackle cookies..easy peasy.
Enjoy your dinner…we walking through the woods to BIL’s house!

November 26th, 2009 at 1:23 pmHappy thanksgiving! I am cooking for my family and should be up cooking something right now, but had to check the board. Angela, I think it was the orange you were drawn to. It is so much easier to just mash the potatoes, I know, I usually do 15 to 20 pounds of potatoes for 32. However, I am getting a reprieve today and only cooking for my immediate family.

Definitely need that book. Will have to look for it.
You look beautiful as usual. Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful.

November 26th, 2009 at 7:23 pmHappy Thanksgiving Angela. That is one hugh ricer I have always had a ricer but some how it did make it to this move? Have a great day with your family!
Lesa #5200 says:
November 26th, 2009 at 9:17 pmBest wishes for your ricer. I’ve seen them and heard of them but everyone in my family, including me, goes the mash, smash and whip with an electric mixer route.
I grew up in a family of wonderful cooks. It was a bit intimidating and I denied the desire to cook for a long time. I eventually got over it and got down to business, LOL! Thankfully, a lot of my mother’s and aunts’ recipes are in local church and charitable org cookbooks. Next up, my mother’s gumbo recipe. She always used chicken, ham and Andouille sausage but I think I will add seafood. Same basic recipe just a little substitution.

I have TWO words for you - Gordon Ramsay…!! AND…another two Jamie Oliver…thats where I got my inspiration from…I mean I knew how to cook as a kid…and Ive pretty much done it and excelled in it through school since I was 11/12 but Ive learnt alot from those two…(gordon even taught jamie…which is why you will probably see him react when ever someone mentiones jamie to him..lol)
