An Evening with Little Yellow Bicycle

I first discovered Little Yellow Bicycle when I was shopping for paper and embellishments after Ben was born and I saw Baby Safari Boy by Sharon Ann.  It was so cute without being too girlie, printed on great quality paper.  They do something called ‘thermography’ and I’m not exactly sure what it is, but it gives the paper a reflective quality and it looks amazing!

Then they came out with Fresh Print Traveler and the colors were perfect for our Cape Cod vacation so I scooped up that line, too.  I was so inspired that I also purchased the chipboard album.  (I’ll share soon!)

Little Yellow Bicycle has it’s home offices here in Connecticut and last night Sharon Ann, Lori and Thom were in town so they held a make ‘n take class at New England Scrapbook Company.  They each taught a page kit featuring Autumn Bliss, Trick or Treat and 25 Days of Christmas.

LYB.jpg

The pages were fabulous and I learned something about their clear cuts.  They come in the package with a plastic film to protect them from being scratched during shipment.  You need to remove this film to allow the true beauty of the clear cuts to come through.  I’ll admit that I’ve been hesitant to use them because I wasn’t confident about attaching them to my project.  It’s so easy!  Just use a small glue dot and hide it behind some printing on the clear cut.  They look beautiful on the page and now I’m a fan!

It was a fun evening with Fisk-a-Friends (I was joined by Fiskateer Julie) lots of laughs and even some sneak peeks (I am so Lucky that I got to see some of the beautiful lines they are working on for future release!).  They were all so nice and very, very generous.  They gave me several page kits to share with You here on the blog.

Would You like to win one?  It’s easy.  All You have to do is share about the Fiskateers with a fellow crafter.  You can share on your blog, on the phone, at a crop, etc.  You can share about our passion or love of Fiskars tools, or what being a Fiskateer means to You.  Then leave a comment and tell us about your sharing experience.  That’s it!  I’ll draw random winners after the long weekend on Tuesday morning.

Have Fun sharing!

    First off, WHAT long weekend????

2nd, I have been talking to a friend of mine who sews, makes jewelry and bakes, but doesn’t scrapbook and have told her she could still join Fiskateers cause y’all make sewing & jewelry making tools also. Her name is Joan, and she’s supposed to be checking us out!

  2. Karin #6470 says:

I’ve been sharing with my friends who are starting to scrapbook, what a wonderful group the Fiskateers are …. the information and ideas that they share are great.

  3. Jennifer Ashley DeGough says:

This is fantastic because I just shared about Fiskateers to a fellow crafter in a Joanns. We were both pouring through the $1 bins at all the fun stickers…etc She was telling me about her card business and that she and her fiance were just buying a house and she missed the scrap community she had when she was working for another company.

So I HAD to mention Fiskars. :) She was extremely interested.. and I am still hoping to see her pop up on here sometime soon.

It’s amazing how easy it is to spread the fisk-a-love!

  4. Heather Anderson says:

I have a friend at work who makes jewelry and knits. I told her to check out becoming a Fiskateer too!!!

I am going to go and talk about it on my blog too!!!

Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  5. Laura #1943 says:

What’s NOT to love !! The friendliness, the RAKs EVERYONE shares, if you are stumped, someone here has the info, so many ideas, swaps and challenges to keep us motivated !! I share EVERY DAY! …and I am very proud to say that !!! Not one day goes by without me mentioning FISKARS or the FISKATEERS !! I am very blessed to be part of this amazing fellowship of talented crafters. When I bump into someone who has recently joined, they always say they wished they had joined sooner or “I FINALLY joined !!” I was reading this post, with someone who is NOT a Fiskateer…and they said….”You share TOO much sometimes”….That is something I certainly can live with !!

btw - LITTLE YELLOW BICYCLE is AWESOME…one of my favorites…LOVE Autumn Bliss to PIECES !!! (Thanks for carrying it New England Scrapbook Co. !!!)

  6. Maxine Hodges says:

Well, today my sister in law and niece came to the shop and Terry signed up to be a Fiskateer and we used Fiskars tools to work on a Halloween book. She just kept saying how nice this tool or that tool worked. Yes, she is a converted Fiskar tool addict now and a new fiskateer!
I love My Little Yellow Bicycle papers. The quality in wonderful.
Thanks for the chance to win.

I also share your love of LYB products. I love their board books that have pre-cut pages to go with them. Saves a lot of tracing and cutting.

Thank you for sharing the web site for the little yellow bicycle! I adore that Christmas line! (hmmm … plotting to return my store bought cards … wondering if I have time to make some?!?)

I happened to be talking fiskars tools at work this week and found out not only is my co-worker a quilter, but so are the people on each side of her and across the hall! They even go on quilting weekends together! I passed on some goodies (for her scrapping daughter) and unfortunately didn’t have enough of the Fiskars ‘quilt’ pins - so I’ll need to bring in a few more!

  17. April Dawn #5734 says:

Wow, I’ll have to see those clear cuts next time I’m in my LSS.

I just told my sister she should become a ‘teer too. She just started quilting and has tons of questions. I shared that I think this would be an excellent place for her to ask for help and to share her 1st quilt journey. *fingers crossed*

I would love the chance to work with anything LYB since that is not something I find around here. Tell someone about Fiskateers? Easy one! I recently was in the JA store located nearby and struck up a conversation with a sewer about my envy to sew. I invited her to come by Fiskars Crafts and Fiskateers since I know there are so many wonderful sewing crafters here :)

Thanks so much for the chance and looks like it was a fun night there in CT. Can I come for a visit please? How’s Christms work for ya ;)
