If He Can Do It, “Sew” Can You!

Last Friday, I went with the Conkerr Cancer gals to the CHOP clinic to do a little sewing with the kids. Guess who tagged along?
Yes, that is actually my husband sitting in front of a sewing machine for the first time! Harry was a little hesitant at first, but when one of the older patients, a young man of around 16, told us that he had made a pair of pants, my husband decided to rise to the challenge. Believe it or not, Harry actually made a pillowcase by himself (with a few helpful pointers from me, of course)!
Now, it’s time to see if all of you can rise to the challenge! Sit down and sew something out of fabric! Post a picture of your project that you’ve made especially for this challenge in your gallery by Friday, July 3rd at 9 pm EST, leave a link on this post, and I’ll choose a random winner to receive a lovely Fiskars cutting mat, rotary cutter and ruler set. Hint: if your project happens to be a pillowcase for the ConKerr cancer folks, your name will go in twice! The directions can be found here!
Good luck, and happy sewing!

June 25th, 2009 at 7:23 pmIf he can do it, I can too! my sewing skills are “sew-sew” and i’m sure after much “hemming and haa-ing” i’m sure i can en-’gauge” in this ’seam’-ingly easy challenge! i hope this leaves you in “stitches” lol!

June 25th, 2009 at 8:02 pmYour husband did good!
I’m trying to do some kind of sewing at least once a week so that I will become more comfortable using my handy dandy machine. I’ll try to make this my project…as soon as I can get into town to buy some material. I printed out the pillow case directions & it sounds like something that even I could sew.

June 30th, 2009 at 4:20 amIve made this corset and skirt for a wearable arts competion, the category being bling it on. I made my own corset pattern and used 20 metres of wire to make the frame that the skirt sits on. All the beading is done by hand and have used my scrapbooking rhinestone supplies to blingit up a bit more. I still have a mask to make to complete the outfit
