Countdown to GASC in Chantilly, VA

Next weekend I’ll be at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Chantilly, VA.

This has always been one of my favorite scrapbook conventions.  Back in 2006, I met Fiskateer Legend Holly for the very first time.  The following year, I volunteered to spend an hour or two demoing Fiskars products at the show when I was asked to step in as a last minute replacement for Holly.  (Holly wasn’t feeling well and was unable to travel to the event.  Several weeks later we all learned that Holly was pregnant!!!)  I had so much fun doing demos the first two hours of the show that I just kept on going, and going, and going… and I did the demos non-stop from open to close both days on the convention floor. 

Believe it or not, I did take time out to go grab a quick lunch that day.  When I left the convention center and walked over to the nearby Chick-fil-A (oh, how I love that place!), I did some RAC’s during my walk.  My personal definition of a RAC (Random Act of Crafting) is this: the act of creating a handmade craft and passing them out to other people randomly.  I had made over 400 handmade magnets using a Fiskars squeeze punch and some custom rubber stamps, and with the help of AmyB Fiskateer #1823, we placed those magnets on the cars in the convention center parking lot. (You can read about it here.) 

Fast forward to next weekend.  This year, GASC has over 65 vendors for consumers.  So, what will I be doing at GASC?… I have alot of surprises planned for not only the Fiskateers in attendance, but for the convention participants as well.  You see this year, Fiskars is a Platinum Sponsor for the convention in Chantilly.  So, as you can imagine, I’ll be bouncing around everywhere spreading the Fiskars love during both days.  I’ll be popping in during the Fiskars sponsored classes, passing out goodies on the convention floor, and will be doing FREE Make-and-Takes at the new Learning Pavilion both days right on the vendor show floor.  (Please check back here on the blog for updates leading up to the event.)

If that’s not enough excitement, there’s more!

I’ll be attending the GASC crop on Friday night too!  I have reserved 4 tables exclusively for Fiskateers.  Not only will we be sitting together cropping the night away, we will also be having our own little Fiskars Birthday Party.  I have a couple of seats left at my tables, so if you will be attending the convention, and are in need of a seat for the Friday crop, please send me an email.  For those of you who didn’t notice this event on the Fiskateer calendar and already purchased crop tickets through GASC in advance, you’ll still be able to join in on some of the fun that night.  I’ll be doing demos during the crop and giving out random Fiskars Birthday presents (door prizes) that night too.
