I have magical powers!

I must have some kind of magical powers because as a woman who wants to move constantly, I’m always on the lookout for the next perfect place to live.  For awhile now, I’ve researched and bugged everyone about Portland.  Mostly I want to know if I could stand the constant gloom and rain.  With Oregon as a pretend move in my mind, I’ve planned our family vacation to FaerieWorlds in Eugene and I plan to tag on a day or two and check out Portland neighborhoods (and just as a disclaimer, I know we won’t really move this time but a girl can dream, right- this will be our second trip to Portland for me to check it out just for fun)…  Anyway, as I wonder about the rain, I also have an affection for raincoats.  I just bought Tabitha one, in fact.  Silly since we live in Reno and it’s the most dry climate imaginable (but that means the raincoats are always super clearanced).  Here’s where my magical powers come in- I buy my tickets for FaerieWorlds, buy Tabitha’s raincoat and then it rains CATS and DOGS here in Reno for days.  Today it’s so gloomy, the giant Sierra Nevada mountains behind our house are obscured so you know what it looks like around here?  PORTLAND!  So if we can’t move to Portland, maybe I moved Portland to us (I hope I didn’t have anything to do with your weather too, Louise- Fiskateer #3903)!

Here are some good things about unexpected rain:

1)  Rainy, gloomy weather can be a great time to pull out a long forgotten craft project to work on.

2)  Getting that opportunity to use a much neglected raincoat.

3)  Gloomy weather often provides some of the best indirect lightening for outdoor photos that you’ll get all year.

Combine all three points by putting on a fun raincoat and running outside (shoes optional) and having someone take a lot of pictures of you singing in the rain and you’ll have great photos to add to your scrapbook pages later.  There’s a silver lining for you!

Thanks for sharing! Maybe that’s why our NWesterners like to be inside to scrapbook! What else is to do on a rainy day?

Cute pictures and love the raincoat! It’s rainy windy and cold here in NE Montana with SNOW in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning. I just don’t feel like going outside and taking pics, even if the indirect lighting is great! LOL (I just checked, it’s 39 degrees right now with a wind chill of 32)

OMGosh, Ang!! I thought you were going to announce some big news that you actually ARE moving to Portland. DON’T tease me like that! LOL!

At least your post did make me smile and feel not too bad that we are drenched here on the coast!

well we don’t own raincoats, can’t do yard work or landscaping in the rain and it sucks to even take a long drive when it’s rainy. I’m still cleaning up the mess from my shelves falling off the wall & breaking the glass jars and spilling flowers and brads everywhere & my rubber stamps. I’ve had allot of bloody fingers yesterday from those little shards of glass (NO more heavy jars on that shelf)! We are playing allot of tenning, bowling & Wii Fit since we just bought it last Sunday…..that’s the only good thing about the rainy weather. I hope you didn’t send it here….1 day is ok but not 4 days of his week off!

I just did this a few days ago while we were having lots of rain here in VA. I taught my little one how to dance in the rain. she was clueless but caught on quick and loved it :)
