Last fall, I had the good fortune to meet Joanna Campbell Slan, author of “Paper, Scissors, Death: A Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery” at ScrapFest in Minnesota. Joanna was there signing copies of her book and was very enthusiastic about being a guest on Fiskateers.com. Since then, she’s been a guest of the blog (HERE) and a chat room guest and many Fiskateers have enjoyed discovering Kiki Lowenstein, the scrapbooking heroine of “Paper, Scissors, Death.” If you haven’t read a copy of this book yet, you still have time before Joanna’s NEW book, “Cut, Crop and Die,” comes out in June (available for pre-order at Amazon HERE). So grab a copy of “Paper, Scissors, Death,” pre-order “Cut, Crop and Die” and get ready because I’ve asked Joanna to come back and talk about her second book in our chat room on June 18th ( time to be announced) It will be a fun opportunity to ask Joanna any questions you have about scrapping, Kiki and what motivated her to write a book that involves murders AND scrapping.
Fiskateer Sara #1314 reviewed “Paper, Scissors, Death” and had this to share:
This book was hysterical! And contained a little too much truth about how paper crafters think. Be afraid!
You won’t look at your own work the same…you’ll dissect it and begin to wonder exactly what your photos tell everyone about you.Be prepared to read this is one or two sittings. You’ll be annoyed at the injustices Kiki suffers and begin to plot your own invesigation on her behalf. And get the urge to better preserve your memories. Also, take a look at the tips that Kiki offers throughout the book. There were a couple things in there I’ve never tried and a few I can now do better! I like that Joann has included these.
My favorite lines: “Forensic scrapbooking. Now I’ve heard everything.” (I think I’ve found my new dream job!)
“I silently marvelled at the breadth of the sisterhood that is scrapbooking. Women who scrapbook are extraordinary.” (Men, too. We totally rock…as artists and friends.)

March 22nd, 2009 at 9:01 pmYou mean I have to wait until June for the next book. Arggg. One thing I hate to do is wait for the next book in a series. I just now read Harry Potter, so that I could do the entire series in one setting.

March 26th, 2009 at 6:01 pmWhen my two loves in life are crafting and reading, so I got this book and read it over the last two days! It was a good read! It was also what I call an easy read. I look forward to her next book. As a beginner scrapper, I also picked up some tips.
