My Favorite Aprons

Earlier this week I shared with you my latest sewing creation, an apron.  All thanks to the new magazine apron*ology, aprons have become my latest obsession.  After reading that magazine from cover to cover, I’ve found myself thinking about the aprons that I cherish and I thought I’d share them with you.  Two from my childhood memories and one from my personal collection.

The first two aprons were hand stitched by my great grandmother.  We called her BaBa and she always wore her aprons, even in casual photos.  As you can see, I was very young when this photo was taken, just two months old, and my memories of her are simply the beautiful photo images within the pages of family photo albums.

But my favorite apron, is one of my own.  It’s not one that is hand made, but it was made for me and given to me in November 2007.  You may have seen this one before.  I think it’s quickly becoming one of Sofia’s favorites too.

On my SEW Busy Lately Reveal blog post earlier this week, I asked you to leave a comment or share a story about the aprons you treasure.  There were 63 responses to that post.  If you have the chance, go back and read all those responses, each and every one is touching in its own way.  Now for another winner… Congrats to Tina S. #3612!  Her name was randomly selected to receive a copy of the new magazine apron*ology and some Fiskars goodies.  Please email your mailing address to wendyjo@fiskateers.com so I can send you these goodies to start you on your way to a new sewing obsession.

What a lovely piece of handi-work you have from your grandma. I share my grandma and great-grandmas’ names and got a needle-worked shawl from both. The work they put into everyday items is amazing.
