We are so lucky to have 5 new Fiskateers of the Year (FOY)! And they each created a beautiful holiday project to share with us.
Our FOY mission, if we chose to accept it (which of course we did!), was to create a holiday project (layout, card, etc) using JUST the following 4 products:
- Fiskars border punch (of our choice)
- Cardstock (only 2 colors)
- Patterned Paper (only 1)
- Ribbon
Here is what each of the 5 FOYs came up with!
Christmas Cones by Debby #2852
I was at A Christmas Shoppe last week and saw this style ornament. Instead of purchasing the ornament which was not quite what I wanted, I decided I could figure out how to make my own. When this challenge came along I knew this was the time to make my Christmas cone with the point on top! I loved the different ways I used Winter Greetings embossing boarder punch with my Christmas Cones.
Ingredients:
Heidi Grace Shimmer Glitter Paper
Heidi Grace Tinsel
Heidi Grace Frost Blvd. Line
Border Punch- Winter Greeting (embossing)
All Ribbon Heidi Grace
Stamps: Heidi Grace and Lil’ Davis
Lil’ Davis Glitter Glaze
All Cardstock is from Prism
Directions:
1. Using your wonderful Fiskars Trimmer cut your paper 8 x 8
(If it is not two sided cut a piece of cardstock 8 x 8 and adhere that to the back of your pattern paper or you can do it the other way around!)
2. Punch out two strips 3/4″ wide from your boarder punch and adhere it to two joining sides of the 8 x 8 paper. You can make the shape face upwards, downwards, to even bring it over the top. I used the little snowflakes from the punched boarders to decorate one of my cones.
3. Roll your paper so that there is a point at the bottom. Adhere.
4. Punch holes in the side opposite of each other and run your ribbon.
5. Decorate and stuff with goodies.
Joy Banner by Meghan #1358
I have these wonderful shelves on either side of our TV that my hubby built for me. I wanted to add a little Christmas cheer to them, so I thought this challenge would be a great way to do this. I decided to make a small JOY banner to hang from one of the smaller shelves.
Ingredients:
Patterned Paper:KI Memories
Red and Silver Cardstock
Border Punch: Leave it to Weaver
Ribbon: American Crafts
Directions:
1. Cut 3 triangles that are the same size (it’s up to you what size you use)
2. Back each of the 3 triangles with 3 cardstock triangles that are 1/4″ bigger on each side.
3. Use the Leave it to Weaver punch on the top edge of each triangle.
4. Add letters (I cut JOY with my Cricut from red cardstock w/ a silver card stock shadow) to each of the 3 triangles. You could also use letter stickers, chipboard letters, etc for this step.
5. Weave ribbon through the top of each triangle. Make sure to leave enough ribbon on each end to hang it. Use adhesive on the back of each triangle to keep the ribbon in place if it slides around.
Joy to the World Card by Julie #725
Ingredients:
Cloud 9 Patterned Paper
Ribbon
Fiskars Threading Water border punch
Red and Brown Cardstock
Fiskars Pinking shears
(stickers)
Directions:
I used a premade card for my base. That allowed me to tie my ribbon all the way around the main part of my card and then glue the whole thing on top of the premade card. I used my Fiskars pinking sheers to cut a 5×7 piece of red cardstock. I used my Cloud9 Christmas pattern paper to make a smaller rectangle and then taped a red one on top of that. Using the Threading Water border punch, I cut a strip of brown cardstock and layered it on the red. I added my ribbon and stickers to complete the card.
Wishing You Joy Card by Melita #373
Ingredients:
Fiskars Icing on the Cake Border Punch
Patterned Paper
Cardstock
Ribbon
Directions:
My card is a standard 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches.
1. Cut patterned paper to 4″ x 5 1/4″. Center and adhere.
2. Cut strip of darker cardstock 1″ x 5 1/2″.
3. Punch using border punch. Adhere.
4. Cut strip of coordinating ribbon 5 1/2″. Adhere.
5. Tie extra piece of ribbon about 2/3 of the way down with a knot.
6. Punch lighter piece of cardstock with scallop punch. (I used a Marvy XL punch.)
7. Adhere stickers. Write sentiment above stickers. Outline stickers with pen.
8. Add dots around edge of scallop.
I really like the detail this punch provides! It cuts so clean and crisp!
Easy Holiday Cards for Busy Crafters by Laura #1943
Why would we do a challenge in December?? After all, it’s the busiest month of the year… (usually!)…so I decided to do my challenge for those Time Challenged!! I did these 2 cards (identical…with the exception of reversing the main cardstock colors) in about 15 minutes!
Ingredients:
Lil Davis ‘Tis the Season Paper
Cranberry and Olive Bazzill cardstock
Ribbon (I used 3/8″ wide)
Fiskars Rope Border Punch
Directions:
1. Cut green cardstock 8 1/2 by 5 1/2…..fold in half, crease with bone folder.
2. Cut a strip of red cardstock 5 3/8 x 1 1/4. Using the border punch on your patterned paper, punch a length 6 inches long. After punching, cut the strip at least 1 inch wide.
3. Attach the punched patterned paper to the red strip about 1/8 of an inch above the bottom of the strip. I used small sharp scissors to trim the red cardstock to follow the pattern of the border punch so it wasn’t just straight across.
4. Attach the ribbon to cover the top of the patterned paper, leaving just as shown…turning the ribbon under the strip and securing.
5. Attach the entire strip to the green card about 1/4-1/2 inch above the bottom. Easy!
I put a plain piece of white cardstock on the inside. To further embellish, you can stamp a favorite holiday image or attach a photo and stamp a holiday sentiment inside…or write a personal note! I hope you enjoy this simple, quick and easy holiday project!
