A Gem in the Gallery

I mentioned yesterday how I love seeing what Fiskateers will create with the Raks they receive; well today I want to share an amazing project that Kriss #446 created with some epoxy brads I sent her.

Both the bracelet and necklace are fun, inexpensive, simple-to-make projects that end up making wonderful gifts for the holidays.

Supplies Used:

  • Cloud 9, Christmas Is…Epoxy Brads
  • Cloud 9, Christmas Is…Paper
  • Renaissance Art Photo Art Bracelet, Silver
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Microtip scissors
  • Acrylic Squares w/predrilled holes
  • Jump Ring
  • Silver Ball Chain

Bracelet:

  • Use the template that came with the bracelet to cut out pattern paper.
  • Punch a hole into the center of each bracelet link.  I keep it real simple and use a nail (a regular old house nail) and a hammer to make my holes.  If you use this method, you may want to make sure you get any rough edges off the back.  Depending on the bracelet, you may be able to use your punch tool.
  • Adhere pattern paper to the inside of each link with Glossy Accents.  Once it is dry, flip it over to find each hole and punch through the paper with a needle tool.  Flip your bracelet back over and insert your brad.  If you brad ‘legs’ extend beyond the bracelet link, just use a pair of jewelry or household cutters to snip off the ends.  I like to cover the back of my brads with Glossy Accents.  It helps hold them in place, but more importantly it keeps from scratching your wrist.
  • Flip your bracelet back over and fill the links around the brads with Glossy Accents.

Necklace:

  • Select two sizes of acrylic squares.  Select your epoxy brad and insert it into the hole of the smaller acrylic square.
  • Next, select two coordinating pattern papers, cover the back of each acrylic square with Glossy Accents, and lay on top of paper (pattern side).  Once they are dry, trim off the excess paper.
  • Use your needle tool to punch a hole through the paper of the larger acrylic square and insert a jump ring.
  • Adhere the smaller acrylic square to the larger one with Glossy Accents.  Let dry and add ball chain.
