Election Day, 2008!

We are witnessing an historic election today.  No matter your political preference, it is Your Right to Vote.  Do you realize that women have only been able to vote in the US since 1920?

I’m encouraging You to become a part of history.  Get out and Vote today.

Leave a comment with a link to a photo of yourself with your ‘I Voted Today’ sticker and I will draw a random winner for a Thank You prize pack (compact stamp press, Heidi Grace Greetings Stamps and other random goodies).  Drawing to be held when the polls close.

***If your voting location does not hand out ‘I Voted Today’ stickers (or they run out), you can still leave a comment.  All comments will be entered in the random drawing.

How nice of you, I already voted. I voted the second day of early voting. Because four years ago I waited over 3 hours to vote after getting off the night shift with three small child. I said never again will I wait that long to vote. I will early vote from here on to avoid them long lines. Thanks again for the chance.

  2. Merlene says:

Voting has always been an important event in our household since I was a child. I am ready to go vote as soon as the polls open out here!

  3. vickif says:

I did the same….early voting. Sooooo much easier. Think every state should offer it!

  4. Debbie C #4668 says:

Good luck with your U.S.voting today. However you vote you will be making history….just be sure to vote. Here in Canada we had our voting last month .

  5. Kimberlee says:

I just got back from the polls. Walked right in and voted. I was done in 5 minutes. Which is crazy becuase I heard there are places with a 2 hour wait already. But they didn’t have stickers… and I think they were getting annoyed with me since I asked 4 different people. I thought it would be cool to scrap. Thanks for the chance to win a RAK… we’re all already winners for living in a country where WE get to choose who runs it.

  6. Sara Fink says:

I am going to vote in a little while. I hope this counts as I don’t know when I will get on the computer today :)

  17. Groovy Deborah says:

I voted! Would not have missed this! Isn’t it amazing that women have only been votng for a short amount of time and yet there are many who do not participate in this right? Sad. I hope everyone remembers that it is not only a duty but a privledge :)
    Deborah Proud American

  18. Maxine Hodges says:

I voted 2 weeks ago. We have early voting and 30% of eligible voters have already voted in our county. I think this will be a record breaking number of voters.

  30. NanaBeth#2906 says:

I voted last Thursday so unfortunately my I voted is in the trash. I have always felt it was so appropriate that my birthday is the anniversary of women’s suffrage.

  31. Tona says:

In our county we vote by mail so I don’t have a sticker but I’m proud to say I’ve voted every year since I was 18.

  32. Christina Solloway says:

I voted!! I don’t have a sticker to prove it - I got a little distracted when child #3 started pushing the “vote” button over and over again… Thanks for the chance to win!!

I made a scrapbook layout with the sticker instead of wearing it today. (I’m home all day — no one would see it if I wore it.)

It’ll also be on my blog in a few minutes: www.prudentscrapbooker.blogspot.com

  36. Barb #2975 says:

I went out to vote this morning - in and out in minutes - what a well run group! I was a little worried listening to all the talk of voting by mail / early so that the lines wouldn’t be long!
Yes, I’m wearing my “I voted” sticker… but sorry, I won’t get around to a photograph until I get around to photographing some layouts! Don’t hold your breath!
I’m off to help with the school’s mock election in a little bit. Hmmm maybe I’ll take the camera there!

  37. Tami B. says:

I miss the I voted sticker. I am registered as a permanent absentee voter, so I voted last week and mailed in my ballot last wednesday. The good part of that is that no matter what happens I won’t miss voting. Today my hubby’s car battery was dead and he took my car. If I hadn’t already voted, I’d be scrambling for a ride to my polling place.

  38. Turtlelady~Sandy#1715 says:

We vote absentee so we don’t get stickers :=( Voted last month!!

  39. Colleen F. 2970 says:

I was the first person to vote in my area. However, they didn’t give up I voted stickers. I have never seen these before. I want my sticker.

  40. Dawn W says:

We didn’t get stickers at my voting location. But I was #300 at 9:30 am this morning and they were so excited that they had hit that number so early in the day that they clapped for me!! We have a little over 1,000 people in our district, so that is a pretty good number for that time of day.m Oh, and I didn’t have a wait at all.

  41. Mojjo says:

I voted and took DS6 with me. He got to meet our congressman who gave DS his business card and asked to come speak at his school. DS now has an idol.

  42. Eileen #4749 says:

I spent almost 2 hours in line Sat night to early vote - so of course it looks like there are not any of the long waits that they were expecting today.

  43. Patty Beckle says:

Just voted. Have a picture, hate the picture, not going to post it. When you have a cold and your trying to take a picture of yourself, it just doesn’t work.

I cannot vote…not in this country at least. It is difficult to listen to people who do not vote, when I cannot, yet I pay taxes. I’m proud of all you who voted! :D

  55. Patty 2832 says:

We went to vote when hubby got home from work!

I was number 300 of the day !

Woo Hoo..and instead of having to stand at a little cubicle, they gave me the big conference table where out township trustees sit for meetings! I had microphones and a gavel at my disposal! Too bad they weren’t on! LOL

I’m going to upload a pic I had Chloe take of us standing outside the town hall and in front of the lake. We also had a car parked by us that was covered in flag stickers!

    thanks for the chance!

I had two stickers…. I promise. But they both fell off, thus I can not take a photo for you! Thanks for the opportunity to win though… all for exercising our civic dity and being thankful for the freedoms we take for granted!

  61. scrappymom19@yahoo.com says:

I did go vote today….I stood in line for 3 hours!!!! That was exhausting. I actually gave my “I voted” sticker to my daughter. I took her with me because she has started to express an interest (she is 9) in presidency.

Thanks for the chance to win. I hope everyone was able to make it out!

  62. Kristin in OH #2764 says:

My dh & I went & voted at 7:00 this evening. Of course, by then, all of their stickers were gone.

I voted! I did get an “I Voted” sticker, but my 5 month old decided to destroy it! I saved the voting stubs to put into a little mini scrapbook I’m doing of this historic election - I figure one day my girls will be learning about this election in school and how cool would it be have a little scrapbook made during the actual event!

  68. Tina Mayo says:

    me me i voted
    http://www.fiskateers.com/community/photo/29807/

  69. Brenda #3635 says:

I worked as an election judge today. My precinct typically has a 25-30% turnout. Today we had a record turnout — 70%!!! How cool is that!

  70. Kathie Jo says:

My daughter and I always go to the polls together. I made sure as she was growing up that knew that voting wans’t always a right afforded to women. My grandmother was born in 1908 and therefore was 12 years old when women were given their right to vote. If you know a women who is 89 years or older, you know a women who was born before we gained our right to vote!
