Meet ‘Jack’

Linda #4949 brought a friend with her to the New England Fisk-a-Friendzy.

Meet Jack…

Isn’t he Cute!?!  I asked Linda how Jack was created and she shared this:

Choose a pumpkin and paint a face on it.  I drew the face on paper until I had a size and expression that suited me and then cut each feature out and traced the shape onto the pumpkin with a white gel pen.  I used a combination of paint and markers to color the face.  The teeth, whites of the eyes and blue irises were paint, the rest was done with Sharpies. (I ruined some of the Sharpies because they picked up the pigment of the paint so I would suggest using old ones.)

Once the face was painted on,  I used a black Sharpie to put dots where I wanted “hair” to sprout…about an inch apart in each direction.

I used my hand-held rotary scissor with a pinking blade to cut yellow plastic grocery sacks into (roughly) 5-inch squares.  Quickly done if you cut the bottoms and handles off the bags, lay them flat and stack them up.  I tried to avoid using the parts with the store logo but it might add interest.

I then used a phillips head screwdriver (don’t tell my dh!) to poke the holes and wrapped each lollipop stick in a piece of the plastic and, as gently as possible, inserted them into the holes.  Enjoy!

Not only did we get to enjoy Jack at the Fisk-a-Friendzy, but Linda was nice enough to let me bring Jack home to share with Emily.  She was very surprised.

I think she has a new best friend.

Thanks for sharing, Linda.  This is a Great idea for Halloween!
