Some Fiskars design team members were kind enough to let me interview them… and now here is Stacey!

Favorite Fiskars tool: I love the Squeeze Punches and the Border Punches…especially Threading water!
The best thing about being on the fiskars DT is getting to use all of the new tools and product as soon as they are released. Fiskars has such fabulous consumable lines and I absolutely love receiving boxes of new product to play with!
Can be found most often crafting at night after everyone else is in bed, although I really work on projects in 5- to15-minute increments of time throughout the entire day.
When I craft I like to drink half-frozen bottles of water. I also love to eat peanut M&Ms when I’m scrapping, but I rarely do because that would be a LOT of candy!
My crafting style is comfortable, meaningful, layered, stitched, and a little unexpected.
I listen to www.ksbj.org when crafting.
I spend 20+ hours a week crafting.
When I’m not crafting I love spending time reading historical fiction, organizing stuff, baking chocolate chip cookies, and taking photos of my kids.
Do you coordinate the papers before they start or just put things together as they go?
I usually start with three or four papers that I want to use and somehow I end up with 10-12 papers on my desk by the time I’m through. I guess I put things together as I go for the most part. I love to mix papers that don’t look like they would obviously coordinate and this requires some trial and error…
How is juggling everyday life and the surprises that come with it….and meeting deadlines for designing?
I am still learning…it really helps to work well ahead of my deadlines so that I have some “wiggle room” in case something comes up, but I don’t always do this.
Do you have any “helpers” when you scrapbook..aka children, cats, dogs, fish?
I have four children who are 13, 10, 6, and 4. We are a homeschooling family, so my kids are home all day with me. My girls love to be crafty, but they have their own projects and don’t usually want to help me much. My four-year-old likes to investigate my tools – especially the squeeze punches – and my six-year-old is very interested in the scissors and paper cutters. I also have a cat who will sit right on top of what I’m working on when she wants to, and my Chocolate Lab, Ben, is often sitting at my right elbow just in case I need to pet him – he is in a constant state of needing to be petted. So…yes, lots of help here!
Do you have any signature things you always do on a project? What are they?
I always use machine stitching on cards and layouts. I really love the way thread makes a project feel like it’s mine. Sometimes I’ll add some hand stitching, too, for the same reason. (My biggest sewing rule: no sewing through people’s heads in photos.) I almost always try to add something hand written on a layout, even if I do stamped, rub-on, or computer journaling.
What do you do to get over “scrapper’s block”?
Oh, man. That can be hard! Sometimes I’ll just look back through my own projects, either online or in my scrapbooks. And it almost always helps to clean my scrap room when I’m feeling “blocked” because nothing makes me feel more motivated and creative than a perfectly clean space.
Can you show us a photo of your crafting space?
I attached some photos. I love my space, but I do wish it had doors. It’s the first room in the house and sometimes it can get messy! I have 18 feet of table space and I use every bit of it.

October 18th, 2008 at 4:44 pmYour craft space is an absolute dream. It’ incredible!
referring to crafts, I do a LOT of sewing on my layouts and cards. To me it more then not simply completes the project, adds that one last final touch that’s just right.

October 18th, 2008 at 10:45 pmI like adding a stich here and there on my projects too. Unfortuantely my machine doesn’t have a space that I can leave it out on, so it mostly ends up with a handstich!
Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself
