I asked some of the Fiskars design team to share a bit about themselves with us in an interview. Now Lisa Truesdell joins us!
blog: gluestickgirl.typepad.com
Fiskars design team member since July 2007
Favorite Fiskars tool:the new scallop squeeze punches and the threading water border punch
The best thing about being on the fiskars DT is working with fabulous product and alongside some very inspiring designers. I love being pushed to try new things and I love seeing what the other team members do with similar assignments.
Can be found most often crafting during naptime and after bedtime.
When I craft I like to drink diet coke during the day, ice water at night.
My crafting style is homey, layered, bright and detailed.
I listen to nothing when crafting - I usually keep it quiet since there are kids sleeping.
I spend 10-15 hours a week crafting
When I’m not crafting I love spending time with my boys (aka my three sons and my hubby) or working on projects around the house.
Do you coordinate the papers before they start or just put things together as they go?
For Fiskars assignments, yes, I usually go into it with a plan of what papers / embellishments I want (or need!) to use. For my own personal projects, I work a little more free and loose - I grab bits and pieces as I go along.
Where do you find inspiration?
I lovelovelove home decor mags and catalogs. Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrell, Domino, Cottage Living… they are filled with gorgeous color combinations and little details that give me ideas for pages.
How is juggling everyday life and the surprises that come with it….and meeting deadlines for designing??
It can be hard, but I am lucky and have a husband that understands that this is a job for me, and he’s willing to take over kid duties when I have a big deadline. Also, late nights and caffiene can be my friends.
When I accept assignments, I try to leave some wiggle room for those unexpected things that always come up!
Do you have other non-designing jobs? If so what do you do?
I am a stay at home mom to three boys : Alex is 7, Ben is 5, and Sam is 1.
Can you show us a photo of your crafting space?
I have been meaning to take some new pics of my space.. you can see some at my blog here:

What are some creative blogs you stalk?
These are not necessarily scrapbooks / craft related blogs.. but there is always something that catches my eye. A color combo or pattern that will get me inspired to make something. =)

Do you listen to the advise of others or do you just always go with your own instints when it comes to crafting?
I mostly go with my own instincts, but I do have a few wonderful scrapping friends that I turn to when I need a set of “fresh eyes” on a project that i am just *stuck* on. Sometimes when you look at something for too long, you just can’t see it anymore, so it can be good to have someone say - “I think that bit of space above the photo is a little funky” - and then you can go back to the project knowing what you’re trying to fix.
