After writing Find Your Groove, Wendy and Kitty did a guest blog post here on the Fiskateer site and that’s when I first became fans of these two Amazing women. I loved Find Your Groove and was so excited when I found out they wrote another book, Fabulous Friendships: Scrapbooking the Relationships that Make Life Fun.
Wendy said that the reason behind writing Fabulous Friendships was to scrapbook the relationships that are so important to us. The relationships that we choose. And this book is loaded with both traditional and digital scrapbook pages about all kinds of friendships that are sure to inspire.
Today, Kitty shares with us her paper LO about her’s and Wendy’s feet on the beach. We went to the beach each year we were writing books so that we could brainstorm and write while in the same room. (Kitty lives in Atlanta and Wendy in Chicago.) Ironically, we wore the same nail polish both years…LOL. Good to know your friends are consistent, eh?
And Wendy shares with us her digital LO about her daughter and her friend. My daughter and Annie have been friends since Zoe was born. Their moms are really good friends, too.
It is a relationship that I want to record now, so when they are older, they can look back on the pages and remember where their friendship began.
In addition to Fabulous Friendships, Wendy has also been working on an e-book called Daily Dose of Digital 2009 Calendar.
I just love this book and Wendy and Kitty have generously offered to give away 2 copies to 2 lucky Fiskateers! For a chance to win the 1st copy, leave a comment or question here for Wendy and Kitty. (They are checking comments today!) We will draw a random winner tomorrow.
The 2nd copy will be randomly given away to someone who completes a layout about friendship. I’ll post more details on the blog tomorrow but you can go ahead and get started…
Thank You, Wendy and Kitty, for hanging out and inspiring the Fiskateers!!!! We look forward to what you do next.
***I forgot to add that Wendy and Kitty were guests on Fiskars TV Sept. 13th. Be sure to check it out.

October 11th, 2008 at 3:48 pmThe question I want to ask is scrapbook related…I feel the trend leans more to digital scrapping now and I feel that traditional scrapping is gonna be a thing of the past, pretty soon its gonna be somewhat forgotten..so how do you feel about that?

October 11th, 2008 at 3:55 pmTHANK YOU for offering up this book. I’ll have to see if I have a photo already printed of my friends, otherwise won’t be able to the layout as ink on printer is out of colour!

October 11th, 2008 at 4:14 pmI have one “fabulous friendship” I need to document. But, apropos to this particular month, I cannot make myself do it. I lost my best friend 4 years ago to breast cancer and I just cannot put it to paper yet. I am glad I did a mini for her to leave to her granddaughters.
Maybe someday.

October 11th, 2008 at 4:44 pmWhat a wonderful idea! As women, aren’t we relational? We desire to have deeper relationships with other women and each other! Love the idea for the book!

I really love digital scrapping. It’s an escape when i need creative theraphy and when i’m too tired to paste and glue and cut..
I saw the episode of this book on Fiskars TV and i know it’s something i’d buy without hesitation. hats of too you for the effort and time you put into it.

October 11th, 2008 at 6:33 pmAs time goes by sometimes friends seperate and get lost in daily living because of different lifestyles, or moving; what ever the case what are some ways that you suggest for keeping friendships going long distance and do you find journaling to be one of the most important aspects of the friendship pages or something else as the important factor when creating the friendship pages?
Thanks for sharing

wendy says:
October 11th, 2008 at 8:23 pmEve, i will answer your question first but also want to let Tona know that the book is not digital. It is mostly paper layouts with a few digi layouts thrown in. In many cases, you would not know the difference between the digi pages and the paper pages unless you read the supply lists. Inspiration is all around us. Even in digital pages. WINK!
I do see digital designing becoming more popular but I don’t think it will totally take over paper. Paper lovers will always want to get messy and play with things they can touch and feel.
The advantage to digital is that there’s no clean up and you can reuse products over and over again. But there’s not a lot of love from a keyboard if you know what I mean.
I am probably 80% digital now but a lot of that has to do with the digital calendar I just finished up. I enjoy making a mess (just ask my husband!) and I also love playing with pixels. It’s all good as far as I am concerned.

October 11th, 2008 at 9:03 pmTo answer Eve: “I feel that traditional scrapping is gonna be a thing of the past, pretty soon its gonna be somewhat forgotten..so how do you feel about that?”
No Eve, I really don’t believe it will ever be a thing of the past. I have never even tried to learn digi - frankly, just out of pure laziness! There will always be scrappers like me - the ones that want to touch, smell and pet everything. So rewarding! Just pure therapy for me
Kitty Foster says:
October 11th, 2008 at 9:06 pmTo answer Ruby “Have you ever had a time when it was difficult to share your friend with someone else?”
I can honestly say - no to this. Wendy and I both are social butterflys - - so we can both be seen as individuals all around at events. I am selfish about being her roomie though - I love her and her snoring!

no we do not do all the layouts in the books. find your groove showed several different styles that required several different designers (plus a gallery). fab friends also used a team of designers and had a gallery from all over the world. kitty and i never wanted to do a book with only our pages in it. we thought it would be boring! LOL

October 12th, 2008 at 12:01 amThis is a great idea for a book. I’ll have to try to track it down. Earlier this year I went to scrap some pages about my friendships and found I have no photos. I have photos of my children and my friends children playing together but no recent (newer than 5 years old) of me with any of my friends. I have decided that is something I need to change, whether we like how we look right now or not. I also think it is great that there are both paper and digi pages in the book since I do both!

October 12th, 2008 at 1:06 amThanks for the chance to win a copy of such a great book! My question is…how do you determine which friendships to do layouts about? Do you do current relationships only or go back and record those significant ones from the past as well?

October 12th, 2008 at 7:33 amI loved the first book “Find Your Groove” and will have to check Amazon for the new one. (that’s the only place I can find books where I live). I lost my BF 3 yrs ago. We had been BF forever as she lived 2 houses from me. I always said that we were friends from “buggy days” when our mom’s pushed us in our buggy’s. I was her maid of honor & she was my bridesmaid when we married 6 weeks apart. Four years later we also ended up having our children 8 weeks apart. I still miss her & think of her every day. Its rare to have a friend that knows everything about you yet still likes you. I wish I had pictures of us together. TFS!

October 12th, 2008 at 12:17 pmHi Peggy!
To answer “do you find journaling to be one of the most important aspects of the friendship pages or something else as the important factor when creating the friendship pages?”
I start every page I do with the words - that is what it is all about to me. It’s all about the story! If there isn’t a story, then it is just a page with a title - KWIM?
But other than words, something fun I added to one of my friendship pages in the book was a key chain that I bought with my best friend when I was 15. You know the ones that say BEST FRIENDS and are split in half - and each one takes a half. I was cleaning out my jewelry box and found it and smiled and thought - what a waste to be in a box. Put it on a page that was all about her.
Kitty Foster says:
October 12th, 2008 at 12:24 pmMelita,
to answer: “My question is…how do you determine which friendships to do layouts about? Do you do current relationships only or go back and record those significant ones from the past as well?”
For me - it’s all good. Translation: I do them all. The past & the present - they both shape who I am. It was so rewarding and therapeutic to do the pages about my childhood friendships. Just jotting down the memories and I was amazed at how they really have affected who I am. Cheesey - oh yeah, but oh so true!
