When Fiskateer Paths Cross

The blog has been so a buzz’in with news about the regional events and other activities. What fun! In fact, it’s buzz’in with a flurry of activity . . . CIA, Inspiring Minds Want to Know (I’ll be announcing the winner this weekend or Monday), sneak peeks of regional event places, etc.
I did want to share with you about a special trip we took a couple of weeks ago. This was such a precious time. We took a little impromptu mini vacation. We surprised Abigail.
I had been in contact with a very special lady . . . a very special Fiskateer. She is a sweetheart and I’m grateful we had the opportunity to meet. We got talking and she shared what she did as an occupation. She is a vet at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park. I mentioned I’d love to meet her the next time we came to the Wild Animal Park.
My daughter . . . let’s just say that my daughter loves animals and her dream job . . . a vet or horse trainer. She would have a zoo of her own if we let her. Well, this very special gal arranged for myself, Abigail and my husband Rodney to take a tour of the animal hospital there at the Wild Animal Park in San Diego. So we arrived and told Abigail what the plan was. She was on Cloud 9 . . . utter bliss. See her smile. Utter bliss.
We arrived to meet this very special gal. She welcomed us with open arms and I feel like we’ve been friends for years. We talked for a good while and then she gave us a tour of the awesome facilities there at the Paul Harter Veterinary Medical Center. It was incredible. Did I say incredible? Well, thankfully there weren’t a lot of sick or injured animals . . . just a few. There was this little guy that had fractured his leg and a couple others. It was so interesting and just brought so much joy to all of us.
After we toured the facility . . . I really didn’t want to say goodbye . . . it was special day with a special friend. I’m looking forward to spending some more time with her in the future. She then arranged for us to go into the Wild Animal Park where of course we always have a fantastic time. We used to have passes and we sure used them. It was an awesome day to appreciate God’s creatures and to appreciate friendship . . . Fiskateer friendship.
It was a once in a lifetime experience and was so incredibly memorable. I’m grateful.
When Fiskateer paths cross . . . wonderful things happen to the heart, dreams can be fulfilled, friendship blossoms and memories are made!
P.S. ~ Addressing Debby’s comment - The Lorikeets loved my Fiskateer bracelet (I love it more) that you all (the community) gave me as a founding lead . . . I wear it whenever I go to meet a fiskateer(s) and then some. Thank you! It is so special to me but the Lorikeets enjoyed it too.

September 7th, 2008 at 4:57 amHello Cheryl,
You had a most wonderful trip and your daughter would have fallen over herself with such an experience.
I loved the lorrikeets.
We have them in the back yard and feed them daily as well as galahs and sulphoe parrots, pigeons and whatever else flies in.
A daily delight to watch.
Have a great weekend.
Agnes.
