The Last Photo of Summer

Well, Labor Day weekend is winding down and that means that summer is finally coming to an end.  I did manage to get one day off this holiday weekend, so yesterday I went out to dinner with my parents.

Living in Maryland there is one special type of food that screams summer, and that’s steamed crabs covered in Old Bay Seasoning.  Old Bay Seasoning is a popular spicy seasoning made right here in Maryland, it’s a great seasoning for steamed shrimp too.

So there I was, sitting at a craft paper covered table, a big roll of paper towels and a wooden mallet strategically placed on the table with a big tray of seasoned steamed crabs.  I grabbed my camera and thought “Well, this is it,  the last official photo of summer.”  I took a deep breath, turned on my camera, and all I see is a blank screen with the words “change batteries now.”

Dead batteries in my camera.  I didn’t expect it to happen, and I didn’t have any extra batteries for back up.  Can you believe my luck?

So, since I didn’t capture my perfect end of summer photo to share with you, I decided to stage another photo instead featuring an apron from my kitchen and the last photo of some old friends.

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  My favorite season, autumn, is just about to begin.  (Oh, and I promise to carry extra batteries where ever I go so this won’t happen again.)

Fall is my favorite season also. The only thing I don’t like is that winter (my least favorite season) follows it. May you have a great fall and your batteries last through all the beautiful autumn pictures

I ran into a similiar situation with a “photo shoot”. I have a “new” Kodak Easy Share digital camera (new to me) that I got at a yard sale for $3.00 and was taking pictures with it & snapped 2 pics when it told me that the card was full. Arrrgggg! (the card only holds 12 pics). Normally I take my Olympus but didn’t think of it and the Kodak is so small & compact that I now keep it in my purse. Oh well, I did manage to get my Olympus & take some great pics of our “end” of summer day.

I’m with Laura on this one! MORE CRAB! You can’t let summer go without the appropriate “last picture”, although I love your apron.
