Lunch Bag Cards

I think I’ve had these brown paper lunch bags in my drawer for years now. I was planning on making lots of paper bag albums at one time but, as often happens with me, my crafting attention span is short and so I have a surplus of bags with no where to go (my kids use reuseable canvas lunch bags for school). On my way to a Fisk-a-teer crop on Saturday (hi everyone at Treasured Memories!), I decided to grab a stack of lunch bags, my new butterfly template, my Ultra ShapeXpress, and my new threading water punch (I finally got one!).
I have to admit, I have been a little unsure of using my Ultra ShapeXpress but my goal for the evening was to really get the hang of it. With my new butterfly template as incentive, I dove right in and LOVED the results. When I get excited about a new tool or technique, I can’t help but get everyone to try so I started calling myself the “butterfly pusher” because I got almost everyone to make a butterfly or a card with me. Too fun! Here are some photos that show the steps it took to get from lunch bag to butterfly card. All I needed besides my tools were some pretty scraps from Kimberly Poloson and Heidi Grace’s Under the Sea line. I think it’s especially fun that only one side of the butterfly has adhesive on it inside the card. To read the message from me, my grandma (yep, this is her card) will have to flip up one side of the butterfly wing. So if you have a bunch of lunch bags lying around- all they need is a quick trim, a little paper and, viola! Cards!
Edited to add: P.S. I found the Butterfly template HERE for a really good price
