Challenges…Your thoughts?

I first joined the Fisk-a-Teers hoping to learn a little bit about scrapbooking (I never knew what a wonderful journey was in store for me!). So it’s only natural that I was immediately attracted to the Scrapbooking Challenges. In fact, I completed every single challenge for the 1st few months after becoming a Fisk-a-Teer and by doing so, my scrapbook pages evolved, too. I was learning and trying new things and I loved it!
Now that I am a Lead Fisk-a-Teer, I want to continue with the challenges. My original thought was to host 1 challenge a week. But that may be a bit agressive. So then I thought about hosting a challenge and letting it run 2 weeks. Is that more do-able? How often would YOU like to see challenges?
And what about prizes? What would you like to win? Paper lines? Tools? Adhesive?
I’m really looking for your input here, so please leave a comment telling me what You would like. Or you can email me at kellyjo@fiskateers.com
Thanks! I look forward to reading all your responses.

August 6th, 2008 at 8:04 pmI, too, love challenges. For me personally, 1 a week is probably more than I would be able to do, but it would be nice to have more to choose from. If you do 1 a week, and a particular challenge doesn’t inspire me, than I know there will be another one the next week to look forward to doing. So, I guess my vote would be for 1 a week. As far as prizes, I think receiving any sort of happy mail just makes my day, so any of the above would be great!

August 6th, 2008 at 8:12 pmi think your idea with “running for 2 weeks” is great. As for prizes, i personally like rub-ons, and papers.

August 6th, 2008 at 8:12 pmI did my 1st challenges during the virtual cha, which I fondly refer to as my fiska frenzy.
Normally 1 a week would be good for me unless I needed to use specific items that I didn’t already have & then a 2 week completion would work best. As far as prizes go anything at all would be great.

August 6th, 2008 at 8:52 pmI like the idea of 2 weeks as you just never know what is going on especially at the end of summer. Prizes……hmmm……new products would be awesome but so would adhesive which we use ALLOT of ….and paper…and tools
!!!

August 6th, 2008 at 9:22 pmDefinitely 2 weeks! For real incentive how about you have to do a minimum of 2 or 3 challenges before you’re eligible to win something. That would certainly motivate me.

August 6th, 2008 at 10:03 pmOne or two weeks would both work for me I think that has to be your call because how busy to you want to be on top of travel etc.
As for prizes Happy mail is always welcome anything but a bill in my box is nice!

August 6th, 2008 at 10:05 pmTwo week challenge would definitely work better for me. As far as prizes, new products would be pretty cool to receive, but honestly, I would be thrilled with anything…especially a new package of Fiskars adhesive runner. lol Love that stuff!

August 6th, 2008 at 10:14 pmI think any amount of challenges that you have time for is good…..that’s the great thing about them, we can do them if WE have time! i’m thinking one a week is awesome! If you can’t participate one week then there’s always the next!
As for prizes, I think all crafters love a little sumpin’ sumpin’…..doesn’t really matter what it is….lol.

August 6th, 2008 at 10:31 pmPaper lines! And I say one challenge a month, intro it on the first of the month and deadline the last day of the month. But that’s just me, keeping it simple. Oh, I guess Fiskars has that with the sketch challenge!

August 6th, 2008 at 10:41 pmI cannot enter into any RAK since I’m a ANZ Ambassador for fiskars but product packs or personally done co-ordination kits (papers and embellies) are really handy with adheasive to go with it. Everything you need to make projects. And very inspiring.

August 6th, 2008 at 10:49 pmI love the idea of a challenge every 2 weeks. Any prizes are fun so mix it up! Will there be a thread we can post in so it will be easy to click into someone’s profile to see their completed projects. The reason I complete challenges is I love to get inspired by all the different takes on the same idea. So being able to see everyone’s work easily is important. I wish we could post completed lo’s in posts
I find it the most frustrating aspect of this forum.

August 6th, 2008 at 11:14 pmYes, I’d love to do challenges..it always seems to get me movin’. I get so bad about taking forever to scrapbook a page..and if prizes are involved..I’d be more “drivin” to want to finish it in time. I think 2 weeks is a good amount of time. Once school starts..there’s no way I could do a challenge a week. Any kind of prize would great!!

August 6th, 2008 at 11:18 pmhi
Firstly thanks for asking.
secondly - I think every 2 weeks would be great - giving people a chance to go out and buy something or get photos printed for projects that we don’t have stuff at home for - also sometimes a week just isn’t long enough.
As for prizes - anything is great - perhaps something project related ie if it is a challenge to use punches - perhaps a punch as a prize. Or perhaps lots of little prizes so you can send out more of them rather than one big one …
really - anything goes.

August 6th, 2008 at 11:26 pmI’m a slow scrapbooker. I would need 2 weeks or even a month to complete a challenge, but I like the idea of variety.
As far as prizes, it’s all good! I’d be ecstatic to get anything for doing a scrapbooking challenge.
Thanks for thinking of us!

August 6th, 2008 at 11:32 pmWell, since I cannot get enough of challenges and hostess them all the time I say do whatever works for you because it can be time consuming to keep up with them. They are so much fun! I will do them all when you decided to start them up and as for prizes:anything Fiskars works for me

August 6th, 2008 at 11:33 pmI love challenges…the more the better LOL. Seriously, i like your idea of posting a challenge every two-three weeks. As far as prizes…I think everyone loves happy mail, but I don’t think we need to have prizes for every challenge. I would be happy with whatever prize you would send…it’s just fun to get a “surprise” in the mail.

August 7th, 2008 at 12:56 amI love challenges and I love prizes - and I love to be surprised with what the prize is. Anything Fiskars makes would be an awesome prize (love Fiskars!!!!).

August 7th, 2008 at 1:23 amThanks for asking our opinion Kelly Jo….I would love to see a challenge a week….I am rather a slow scrapper (I tend to put together and tear apart a layout at least ten times a day for for ten days before I am satisfied) but that is the great thing about challenges….it motivates you with a deadline!! And any prize would be too yummy as far as challenges go.

August 7th, 2008 at 2:07 amI love the idea of them running for two weeks… maybe a challenge offered every week but it runs for 2 weeks.
Paperlines, stamps, you name it! I am IN!
debby 2852 says:
August 7th, 2008 at 6:17 amI think every 2 weeks. There always seems to be something hopping around here and that will give us a chance to participate in several challenges.
As far as prizes I think all three are great ideas. Everyone can use tools, paperlines, and most definately adhesive…stamps and inks would be cool too.
Ursula #2228 says:
August 7th, 2008 at 8:36 amI think every 2 weeks is definately doable and much easier than every week!
As far as prizes, I think any fun mail is a plus. Love paper lines, acrylic stamps, rubons, flowers and other embellishments, tools…FISKARS adhesives!
connie #2909 says:
August 7th, 2008 at 8:40 amThe reason I don’t get challenges done is TIME! So I would say “2 weeks” per challenge. As for prizes I LOVE the adhesive (can’t find locally:( ) and the tools. But anything from FISKARS are great.
Vicki Bell #1766 says:
August 7th, 2008 at 9:22 amMy vote is for weekly challenges. Any prizes are great - I am a tool fanatic so I think that tools always make excellent prizes, but - I often don’t have access to the Fiskars brand papers so those are also wonderful. I think that a mix of all prizes is best.
Cherrie #1790 says:
August 7th, 2008 at 11:23 amI like having 2 weeks myself, we all tend to get busy. As for prizes - I like the tools!! But I also like the idea of a coordinated page kit - you know a few papers and matching embellies to make a nice page!!
Thanks for asking!!

August 7th, 2008 at 11:50 amI forgot to say that I love challenges because they make me get my pages done! I love to be pushed into thinking outside my box!
Maxine Hodges says:
August 7th, 2008 at 12:19 pmI love challenges. they make me try to think outside the box and do something I might not ordinarily do. I need about 2 weeks -to find time, have the paper talk to me and get the products I need.
I look forward to challenges- any prize is great although a girl can never have to much paper or too many tools.

August 7th, 2008 at 12:38 pmI lov challenges, they manage to get me scrapping even when I’m pushed for time, 2 weeks is fine, any shorter is not enough time and longer I tend to forget about them. LOL. any prize is great, paper, tools and adheisive are always welcome.

August 7th, 2008 at 1:35 pmI think 2 weeks sounds like a winner! Hope there are challenges other than just layouts. I’ve yet to start a true “scrapbook”… I try and then get so intimidated! Love making cards and altered items and other crafts as well.
Prizes… love ‘em all!

August 7th, 2008 at 4:06 pmI would love to do a challenge a week. From simple to more challenging.
As for prizes — Well, I see those as little blessing. So anything you have would be great.
Thanks for ask us our thoughts on this. I am sure that no matter what you decide it will be great.

August 7th, 2008 at 5:49 pmI love a good challenge. They are so inspiring & provide me with the motivation I sometimes need to get scrapping. I think a 2 week challenge is perfect…not too long that we’d forget about it but long enough to get it done. Plus less waiting time in between challenges. lol
As for prizes, anything would be fine as they are an added bonus.
Sandy #1781 says:
August 8th, 2008 at 9:46 amI agree that challenges helps us try new things and makes our scrapbooks grow. Once a month would be enough for me, but I like every two weeks, I just won’t participate all the time. Prizes? Comments in our galleries and a full scrapbook are both great prizes.

August 8th, 2008 at 11:44 pmThanks for asking..
Seeing as I’m a newbie scrapbooker..I would say 2 weeks would be perfect..as I’m the slowest scrapbooker in the world…As for Happy Mail could be anything..I LOVE it all!!! Look forward to the challenges!
Smile.

August 9th, 2008 at 4:16 amHi, I am new to the fiskateers website. Only been a member a week. The thought of a challenge every two weeks sounds great.
For a beginner like me, any prize is great, and even if you did receive something that you already had, wouldn’t if feel great to give it to someone with the same interest in papercraft
