A Happy Week

Hello Fiskateers . . . I’m so excited to share with you about several events this past week.

First off, I wanted to share with you about a very special lady in my life.  She is caring, loving, loyal, talented, compassionate and a the best mother a daughter could hope for.  She has held me when I had a heartbreak, encouraged me with I felt no one else was on my side, disciplined me when I needed it, been a best friend, and seen me through thick and thin.  I love my mom and she is a beautiful woman at any age . . . inside and out.  So happy birthday (belated) mom.  This is a layout I did a few years ago of my mom when she was young.  It was one of my first published layouts and I think she is still as beautiful.

It’s been an extremely busy couple of weeks but I returned home from CHA, began a pretty intense/comprehensive training for my law enforcement job, had some family events to attend and that brought me to yesterday.

Yesterday I was a part of a wonderful event.  Sophia from Strictly Scrapbooking in Cerritos helped head this event up and it was wonderful for California stores and manufacturers.  She did an absolutely wonderful job as well as her team!  Thank you!

You see, it was difficult for some, it’s impacted all of us . . .  the cost of fuel prices for many stores to travel all the way to Chicago to see all the new scrapbooking and craft releases.  So, several stores, Sophia and committee got together to put on this fun event.  It was like a mini California CHA held in Fullerton.  There were several California stores (a very well attended event) and several manufacturers (some that flew in from out of state).  I helped represent Fiskars and it was a blast.  John Gamblin (my favorite Fiskars rep) built a great display board and displayed all the new releases.  It was awesome and worked well in the space provided.  It was fun working with he and his wife.  I demoed the new tools as well as shared some projects and layouts using Fiskars tools and product.  Of course I got to sit among all the beautiful and incredible new releases.  Oh my!

I saw several store owners that I’ve grown to love.  When we were in the early stages of the Fiskateers I visited lots and lots of stores doing make and takes, classes, etc.  It was a blast and I met some wonderful people.  I also had the blessing of seeing several Fiskateers.  Huge blessing.

One Fiskateer and I have been emailing back and forth for a while.  I didn’t even know she was going to be there and it was such a surprise blessing to meet Terry.  She is a sweetheart.  It was a blessing meeting other Fiskateers as well and of course seeing familiar faces.  It was a blessing talking with Liz.  I made some new friends at “Let’s Party Hearty” card creation templates (I’ll be sharing more).  Some very sweet ladies . . . Sue and Sharon.  Sue has been a ‘natural’ fiskateer for years!  It’s amazing the ties that have been made in our community and I am incredibly blessed.

I can’t wait to share more with you in the weeks to come about some new products that work well with Fiskars.  Watch out card makers.  I have some fun ideas for the future.

I spied some absolutely fun flowers in the Prima booth and got to say hello to my sweet and talented friend Donna Salazar.

. . . despite the fact we had some rock’in and roll’in with a good jolt underfoot (an earthquake) . . . it’s been a lovely, successful and happy week.  I am blessed.

I heard about the earthquake. I’m on the East coast and I was on the phone with one of my contacts from work and she’s in Irvine, CA. We were talking, then she was like…. “I gotta go” and hung up. I was like… guess she’s gotta go potty or something. Then I heard about the earthquake. We talked later and she said they were experiencing an earthquake and had to get off the phone. Quite freaky!!!

Anyway, those new Prima’s are yummy looking!! Can’t wait to see all of the new releases from Fiskars. I like the orange handled squeeze punches. YAY! :D

Your layout of your mom is beautiful - what a wonderful tribute of your love for her. There are some women who radiate their beauty from the inside out - it seems you’ve inherited that from your mom! I loved reading about the mini-CHA that was held - what a great alternative for those that couldn’t make it to Chicago. So many times in life, when we are just a little bit flexible, or think out of the box, the most wonderful things happen!

Blessings to you and your family…I can only imagine how awesome VBS is at Saddleback Church!!!

Cheryl, what a great idea with the min-cha. That might be a thought in the future around here. Too cool.

I’ve got to get my VBS photos up on my blog. I was only able to go one day and help as I head for CHA the next day. I surely missed working with all the children.

I love the LO of your mom but especially love all the things you said about her. I lost my mom to cancer last summer and am so grateful that like you, I was open about my feelings of admiration and love for her. She knew exactly how much she meant to me. Your comments remind me so much of the relationship she & I had. Aren’t we blessed to have such wonderful mothers?!
