Mind of a Scrapper

I wouldn’t say I’m totally not a camping person- it’s just that I’ve never really had the opportunity. Even when I was a Girl Scout, we “camped” in our troop leader’s backyard- on the trampoline (really). So when my husband surprised me this week by booking a campsite for our family for 2 days, I was a little, well, nervous. What in the heck would we EAT? No shower for 2 days?! What about BEARS?!! But then my scrapping mind kicked in: “OOooh, but I’ll get great photos to scrap later!” And you know, sometimes that’s all it takes for me to embrace a new experience (that and S’mores).

CampingSo, we’re back from 2 days in a small tent a few yards from beautiful Lake Tahoe. Our clothes are in the wash, we’ve each had extra long baths and now I can sit back and enjoy the great photos we captured. I plan to spend some time this weekend making a mini album of our first “real” family camping trip and I have my favorite Cloud 9 “Outdoors” line ready (I finally have a reason to use it!). Since I’d rather scrap WITH someone (even virtually), I thought I would have more fun knowing that 3 of my Fiskateer friends would be making “outdoors-y” projects, too so I have 3 kits ready to send to 3 of you who leave me a comment by Monday morning, July 7th. This will give me motivation to have my mini book done and ready to post. So leave a comment and tell me about the last event, vacation or adventure that you experienced that was made that much sweeter when you thought about the scrapbook pages that would come from it. I’ll draw 3 names randomly by day’s end on Monday.

Cloud 9

P.S. I actually LIKED camping!

Congrats on surviving your first camping trip! I’m actually working on scrapping our first family camping - July 07. I bought some Max’s Backyard pp and embellishments but everything hasn’t made it on the page yet :) Thanks for the op to win Ang! Have a great rest of your weekend.

Camping is fun!!! Glad you had a good time.

  3. Cherie says:

Glad to hear that you actually “DO LIKE” camping. Unfortunately my camping days with our kiddos is past us now and I really miss it. I found it kind of nice, this getting back to the basics and simplicity of life where you learn to make due with what you have (without our creature comforts blow dryers, tv, video games you know the things we just can’t live without LOL) and enjoy the laid backness of it all. I actually found a simple cup of tea even more enjoyable when sitting quietly before anyone got up and just sat there listening to nature - total happiness. This life style change makes you look at things differently than what you would normally take for granted in our everyday lives - the beauty in simplicity.

As I grew up most of our family vacations were camping & fishing. I love the outdoors, we live on 7 wooded acres so I better. I’m at the age now though that if we’re going to camp then it had better be somewhere that has a place where I can take a shower & wash my hair. LOL. Doesn’t a cabin sound better then a tent? :)

  5. Colleen #2970 says:

I haven’t been camping for years. Never went as a family, but church youth group and my 4-H club usually went camping every summer. I loved it, but was always glad for a hot shower when I got home.
What recent event will I be scrapping, lets see, there is the July 4th parade this am, the cookout at my brothers this afternoon, Dance recital from last week, or our family vacation to St. Louis, plus I am still working on Disney pictures from 2 years ago. So much scrapping, so little time.

  6. vicki in MD says:

congrats on the great time spent with your family. I can say that I never went camping until after I was married - in a tent - in NH -that was an experience I’ll never forget. I was born in the city and spent my summers at Daytona Beach. But what I saw and learned was something very special. I think the last event was the family reunion last summer. I couldn’t wait to get home and get the photos, paper and embellishments all together. It’s a time when the big family puts everything else aside and spends time remembering times gone by.

  7. lydia says:

our last camping trip was 4 a week and was I ever glad to come home to my own nice bed and to have a real good, long shower..the most memorable time of our last trip was of the camp sites we visited had showers where we had to keep one of the girls outside to push loonies and toonies to keep the shower going which was approx 4 3 mins..we had to learn quickly to get the most out of our showers..camping can be fun U learn to do things you’ve never done before!!LOL

  8. Patty 2832 says:

We love to camp! It’s always a lot of fun (alot of work too!) but we enjoy the easy lifestyle and sitting by the fire chatting, just cant’ be beat! Hopefully, we’ll get to go in the next week or two!

  9. kim3timemom #2117 says:

Oh man..You’re a better woman than me!!! My DH knows better than to plan a camping trip that would include me…BLECH!! :) I leave the camping to him and the boys. If I were to EVER camp it would have to be from a motor home with a shower and bathroom. Whenever we drive back home to Ohio…I start to dread the long drive..then I think of all the fun that we always have…and all the pictures I can take and all the scrapbooking ideas kick in and I’m ready to travel.

  10. Cherrie #1790 says:

Mine has to be a camping trip also - I have never been much for sleeping on the hard ground and dealing with the bugs and humidity here in Florida. But I did get some awesome photos out of the trip - like the one of my DD taking a bath in a cooking pot full of water (she was 2), and another of her brushing her teeth at the water pump. I cherish those pictures and yep they were scrapped.

  11. Jenifer Cowles says:

Camping is fun, we just went to Hells Canyon in Idaho it was fun and we saw a baby bear (of course the couple minutes that I didnt have my camera but Oh well) I need to get that scrapped

  12. Peggy #4129 says:

Well because my husband has to many things wrong with his back ie, herneated disc, ruptured disc and nerve damage we dont do all that camping stuff so we enjoy puttsing around the house, like planting gardens, eating fresh veggies etc…..so when we planted our garden I took pictures of what it looked like as we planted it, then as it started growing and now that it has over taken every spare piece of soil in the plot……vines everywhere….today I ate our first potatoe out of the garden, actually I just washed it in the garden and ate it while I was getting the lettus, green peppers and onions….yummy yummy yummy….now thats something to scrap about! Thanks for sharing….and those kits sounds like they would look good with my garden pictures in them…..lol
    Blessings

Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip. My family camped alot when I was a kid. My Dad had a habit of finding the most remote campgrounds around, so I grew to hate it as a teen and never went again. I love the outdoors and gardening and trailing but I can leave the camping behind. I feel bad for my kids as the never had the chance to experience it because of my experinces. I

  14. Pinky aka Cristal #3405 says:

I love camping but I have never scrapped it….YET only because I started scrapping just 8 months ago now. You have inspired me to dig into my boxes~!
You know what I was dreading but was made sweeter by thinking of scrapping the pictures?? MOVING! LOL Of all things moving I dreaded but seeing those pictures…all I could think of was…what picture will I scrap next?! Is that what they call scrap-a-holic??

  15. Sheri says:

Your camping trip looked super fun. I love to camp but only for one night. LOL. It has to be cold too. I live in Florida so now it is too hot and humid. But in October we went camping in the Ocala National Forrest. It is beautiful. I haven’t found the right stuff to srap with for the pics so this would be an awesome Rak to win. Thanks for doing this wonderful RAK

  16. Jennifer Muller says:

Glad to hear you had a good trip! I’m working on scrapping a mini album of the fun we had while my husband had a long paternity leave after our 2nd daughter was born (7 weeks ago). I had a very easy recovery and (luckily!) an even easier baby, so we were able to do lots of fun things together (with our toddler, too). Can’t wait to scrap those pictures!

  17. kristine hart says:

congrats on your camping trip. I am off camping /tramping next week in our ranges here. Im taking my 8yr on his first big trip into the hills and hes really looking forward to it. Only prob is its winter here and damn cold, so hopefully the weather will be a bit better by then. Im taking my camera up so i hope to get some great pics to scrap with my son

  18. Michelle 3624 says:

I’m glad you liked the camping thing. . . I am not a camping girl that is for sure!

The last thing we did that I knew I was only doing because I knew there was going to picture moments that I could not pass up was a Star Trek exhibit. MY DH has been crazy for Star Trek since he was a young boy and I had never seen one until we got married. So I knew that I did not love it as much as he did but I could not let this go without him seeing something he loved so much. So I went took lots of pictures and yes I did enjoy myself and have even grown into a kind of fan. Now if we could only agree on which Captain was best!

  19. debby 2852 says:

I love to camp! We use to do quite a bit…not lately. Too hot now. We usually go in Spring.

A potential scrapbook motivated me to go to three family reunions last year! I love my family in small doses! LOL But I kept thinking of the memories I would be passing up. And the whole idea of losing memories if I did not caputre them now.

  20. Meghan E says:

Sounds like you had a good trip and I love that picture!

Our trip to San Diego last month definitely was made sweeter by the thought of all the pictures I could take to scrap. In fact, I plan to scrap them on a retreat Im going on after my birthday :)

  21. NanaBeth #2906 says:

You’re a better person than I, if there’s no room service, it’s not a vacation. Preferably somewhere I can watch the sun come up over the ocean.

  22. Tammy says:

Growing up mostly in Tx we camped alot, but after age 15 I dont I went again. Then my boyfriend at the time wanted to go camping in WI. All I could think about was bugs, the heat ect…. Well I ended up enjoying it so much we started going every weekend for the next year!

  23. Lorraine says:

I went camping in Gibbon’s Glade in Pennsylvania once and the only bath we had was in the very cold lake. But nobody cared it was fun. This is going back when I was 18. That’s a long time ago.

  24. Katie #4052 says:

Sounds like you had a great trip! I LOVE the tent picture… priceless! I am soooo not a camping girl! My daughter and I had to travel to Iowa for a wedding over Memorial Day weekend and I was sooo not looking forward to it. Then…I thought…this is our first mother/daughter road trip! Hopefully not our last! We had such a fun time when we focused on the road trip and took goofy pictures with touristy things along the way. My desire to scrap the trip totally changed my outlook on the trip and made it way more fun!

Oh I so love to camp. When my boys were babies 30 yrs ago I tent camped. My oldest started camping when he was 6 weeks old….I have finally progressed being old and can’t sleep on the ground anymore. Hubby and I bought a fifth-wheel 2 yrs ago and it is like being at home camping!!! I love the scrap camping with my grandkids…I’m glad you had a good experience camping Ang it is truly a wonderful thing for families/kids to do…. Thanks for all the help getting me back on my beloved fiskateer website…(((HUGS))) patti smith

  27. Barb #2975 says:

I can’t wait to see you mini book! Please post the pages! Today my scrapbook challenge was to take photos of the boys tubing… there were 6 boys from 11 - 14. I did my best to get photos of them flying off the tube!

  28. Jo-Ann # 3830 says:

the last event i knew would be a good scrappy topic moment was a group from work went to the horse races for the evening! it was a hoot and i got some good pages happening!
i used to camp a lot but the bugs would freak me out! i never wish them any harm, but only wish them away from me! lol

  29. Janet says:

Hey Ang - pleased to hear you scrap-vived the camping trip! I haven’t camped in years.

I honestly can’t think of any outing, etc. that I don’t like going to, but knowing that I’m going to be scrapping later always makes outings even more fun. I’ve even gotten to the point that I taken along a scrap bag on most family vacations now - for those quiet evening moment.

    Happy 4th!

  30. Lyn Dwyer says:

I love the family pic of you all looking out the tent Ange…..what a great pic to scrap…..

We had lots of holidays in caravan parks when our 4 boys were all younger…..they still remember those days and the fun they had meeting other campers and socialising in the caravan park…..mind you our caravan seemed to attract all the kids from the park….LOL!

I should really get out some of those old pics and scrap them….thanks for the inspiration Ange….they were really wonderful memories….and obviously our kids remember those days well to this very day….they use to play kick the carton……with an empty milk carton taped with black insulating tape to make the carton stronger…then they use to count to 20 and kick it…..all the other kids had to go and hide….so funny….but just a made up game by my boys…..and the kids played it for hours on end….

  31. Jennifer Nenni #1626 says:

Fantastic pic of the family! We haven’t camped in a few years, but our favorite spots are all around Lake Tahoe.

  32. Michelle #2068 says:

Congrats on a fun camping trip. The last thing we did that I knew I was doing just for the pictures was playing guitar hero with my family. I love to play the wii with my family but man I suck at guitar hero. But the pictures that I got were awesome!

  33. Sharon #2472 says:

I am looking forward to scrapping my 4th of July pictures. I’ve always wanted to go camping and it sounds like you had a great time!

  34. Louise #3903 says:

yup don’t think camping would be for me but like you I tend to do things, take pictures & think of the fun ahead scrapping them. My husband went golfing with his sister last week & he took pics of her in all the sand traps so I did a mini book today dedicated to her “day at the beach” and I think she will love it!

  35. Christine C #2264 says:

Congrats on surviving your first campout. Every summer we go to the beach and camp on our family section - luckily we have running water and power so we are able to have showers and a working fridge (and toilet for that matter), 3 essentials for a summer holiday. We usually stay for a week, eating off the BBQ each night and lighting a fire to stay warm in the evening. These are great times, unfortunately this year we my MIL has decided to build on the section and move their permanently so no more camping holidays there - I think we will have to find another spot as we really love the camping holidays.

  36. April G says:

I love camping. I get to read books for most of the day and lounge around without the threat of laundry calling my name.
I do however have an inflatable bed and a two person sleeping bag so its alot like home. I am glad you had fun I know some really good hobo diner recipies if you go again!

  37. Kathleen says:

I’m so glad you had such a good time on your camping trip. I remember a while ago… a camping trip I was on and I got stung by a bee. Well long story short that was when I found out I was highly allergic to bee stings. So needless to say your first experience was much better than mine!! Have fun scrappin those pictures and emotions. Thanks so much for sharing.

  38. Dragonlass #4356 says:

Glad to hear your first experience of camping was a hit with you and your family. Camping was always a part of my childhood and when my children were growing up it was incorporated into their lives as well. We even regularly had several tents set up in the back yard for my children and their mates to spend the weekend in. When the weather turned bad we would put the tents up in the bedrooms.

  39. Bobbi in KY says:

soglad you had fun!!! I’ve never been camping myself-just never thought it would be my thing, but maybe I’m wrong!! Thanks for the chance to win Ang!!

  40. Zarah #3377 says:

Terrific photo with all of you peeking out! Looks like a FUN one to scrap!

With me, all events with more that three people are events I rarely feel like attending. I get overwhelmed and tired. My DH’s grandpa turned 80 a li’l while back and I knew we had to go. One thing that helped me keep spirits up was the thought of the photos! (Another the thought of his sweet grandparents that I love to bits!!)

…and it was a lot nicer than I thought. Still tough, but with some VERY nice memories and photos to show for it. :)

  41. doverdi says:

I’ve always enjoyed camping. During my marriage we used to do a lot of camping. Then after my divorce my DS worried that we’d never camp again since mom’s don’t/can’t do that. Well, this mom could. I’d pack him & a friend up in the car along with the tent, sleeping bags, mini barbecue, coolers, etc and off we’d go. I think I really surprised myself & him. Yes, even mom’s can camp by themselves. It’s a lot more work but it is so worth it in the end to see the smiles on the kids faces. It’s funny cause the other day I pulled a couple pics out from one of those camping trips & it’s waiting to be scrapped.

  42. Kerri fiskateer #1017 says:

mmmm not really a great memory of camping, but funny yrs later. my mom & i went to a girl scout wkend where it was specifically titled me & my mom. we were on tents, she slept with one arm out to swish away the mosquitos & woke up with that arm covered in mosquito bites! thankfully we only took photos of the arts & crafts activies we did together, but those memories are like well over 16yrs+ ago. glad to see the scrapper side of u is showing on a camping trip, would love to have my kids out in the wild.but missing smores more then anything, as there’s no graham crackers here in new zealand LOL !can’t wait to see the mini book in action !

  43. Robin (Tqmnurse) says:

So glad that you loved camping! DH and I used to go all of the time when the kids were home…now that we are older….well…not so much.
I would love some of that new paper as I have new photos from DH’s recent fishing trip to Canada…
    Robin

  44. Catherine says:

My family is one of those outdoors kind of families, so we LOVE:
    ~hiking
~White water canoeing, regular paddling too
    ~camping

So I would have to say that our first camping trip(with a bit of whitewater), with our first born who was 16 mos. My father in law took video of this trip, had a friend put music to it and entered it into a film festival about paddling. He won in a few categories :) ! We have continued to go camping with our other 2 children :) !

My happy scrappy event was my Mom’s 75th birthday, we had a great time at her party and all of the guests brought pictures and momentos from different periods in her life. I know that the fun of that party is hers again as soon as she opens the book!

  46. Amy #3888 says:

This weekend we are staying at a hotel/waterpark. It is the last place I wanted to be for the 4th of July. But we are all together and I will ahve some great photos of my kids in the pool and going down huge waterslides. Very scrap-worthy!! I’m with my family so that makes it worth it.

  47. Melissa S. says:

Being a backstage mom during daughter’s dance recital was almost terrifying–corraling 8 4 year olds is about like herding cats–and you have to keep them quiet! But let me tell you I got pics that no one else was able to get. So Momma’s going to have some SWEET pages.

  48. Sarah L #1097 says:

We like camping too…it gets you away from it all. We went to Lake George, NY last week and it was very rustic for a whole week. I can’t wait to scrap the fishing, hiking, and lake photos!!
    Sarah #1097

  49. kristina #189 says:

Glad you survived camping, Angela! ;) Love that kit!

  50. Jessica #1868 says:

What a yummy kit! I could definitely put that to good use.

Two weeks ago my family went camping for the first time. It was wonderful my 4 mon old dd had no idea we were camping and my ds (almost 3) now thinks he can pee on anything outdoors- yikes! I can’t wait to go again.

  51. Charity says:

Glad you enjoyed camping. We would go every year when I was younger and every year we took tons of pictures. IT is so much fun to look back and reminisce about the friends we saw every year, the roasted marshmallows, the tents, the fun. IT was always a blast.

  52. Laura Gilhuly says:

We spend a lot of time outdoors. Our last outdoors event was out first trip to the beach this year! But with two boys we spend most of the summer outside….we go fishing almost every weekend! I really need to teach the boys to put their own worms on the hooks lol! Outdoors time = Family Time

  53. Amy says:

I just returned home from a trip to the mountains with my extended family. We spent most of our time hiking and found so many waterfalls! I kept thinking how fabulous it would have been to capture the sound of the water to bring home with me and include in my scrapbook…

  54. jackie #4124 says:

As a kid, we used to camp out every weekend. I loved it. Haven’t done it in a long time. I just got back from vacation with my whole family. Including my mother, sister and her family. We took a cruise then hit Disney World. I took pictures with pages already in mind. I will make an album and give it to my sister for either Christmas or her birthday in January.

  55. Ainerae says:

Glad to hear that your experience was all the sweeter when you thought of the scrapbook pages! My outdoor experiences are always sweeter because of that, too - most recently the picnic we had for seafarers from the Philippines yesterday and the vacation we took in Rockport, MA, last week - we spent hours walking every day!

  56. Lisa #1989 says:

First I have to say that my sister and I are total opposites! She is totally outdoorsy and I am totally not. She tells everyone that my idea of the great outdoors is walking from my car to the shopping mall!

For me the event that will be made sweeter by pictures is tonight. It is fireworks night and I just don’t enjoy going because of all the traffic and congestion after trying to get out to get home. But thinking I’ll have some pictures to scrap makes it so much better!

  57. jowayne says:

It is funny you brought this up about camping this weekend. My husband and two sons are going to sleep in the backyard tonight in a tent, while I will be scrapbooking in the basement!!! We LOVE to camp, but won’t have time to go anywhere this summer, so my husband decided to do it in the backyard instead. I am sure I can get some cute pics of them tonight! Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  58. Jeni Johnson says:

Enjoyed your story Ang! TFS! Growing up every summer we camped at Devil’s Lake in WI. So many wonderful memories…Now that I have my own family though we’ve never camped out. My little one may be old enough now (1 1/2) and my DH & I recently talked about giving it a try at a local campground, that way home isn’t too far away! :)

  59. Karen C. says:

we were at our pastor’s house last night sitting by the firepit. i thought darn, i wish i had my camera. although, i don’t think i would have gotten great pics in the dark. my children were having such a great time making smores and i was all wrapped up in an old vinatage quilt, listening to the conversations and watching the fireworks light up the night sky. it was really a picture perfect moment. i enjoyed every second of it!

  60. NanaBeth#2906 says:

Senior moment-might finally scrap our backyard when it became a certified backyard habitat!

  61. Kriss Cramer says:

It looks like you all had fun. Good for you!

Our family has ATVs and I enjoy riding as a family. I don’t, however, like mud puddles all that much, especially the great big ones. A couple years ago when my son was first learning to ride his dirt bike, my dh convinced him to ride through the puddle. I didn’t want him to, of course. The fear of him falling in the puddle, getting stuck or getting hurt in any way wasn’t up my alley. Once he did it and was okay (and LOVED it), I then realized it was perfect picture opportunity. I scrapbooked that day and it’s one of my favorite LO’s.

I’m going to search for it and post it on my blog. If you want to take a look, go to www.art-interrupted.blogspot.com.

  62. Rhonda 3316 says:

Angela, first of all welcome as a lead! I love your camping photo. Too cute!! The outdoorsy papers would really come in handy for our recent girl scout campout. Thanks for the opportunity!! Happy Scrapping!

  63. Amy #4257 says:

I enjoy every trip we take - but when I look back at the photos more memories come pouring back to me. Always loved camping out in the backyard as a kid-I may have to see if my mom has some pictures of that!!!!!

  64. Amy G. #1803 says:

Wow, cool time you had! We are trying to plan a camping trip this summer. LOL, it might be in our backyard, but we’re trying. LOL! Great papers, those are awesome! :D

  65. kris#2961 says:

Glad u enjoyed camping:) Thhanks for the chance to win!

  66. Roseann #2933 says:

Don’t you just love camping? I do! I am getting ready to go on a camping trip with my grandkids, and I love taking lots and lots of pictures to make the pages when I get home.

  67. becky #1836 says:

glad you had fun!! i love to go camping which is a good thing because my boyfriend is an outdoors fanatic!

  68. Melissa2396 says:

I am so NOT a camper. I find sleeping on the ground, even in a sleeping bag, painful. No flushing toilets? What kind of trip is that? And what if I get hot and want an air-conditioned place to cool off? (yeah, I’m a camping sissy!)
I do like the outdoors, though. I recently spent a week up in Yosemite. Granted, I rented a little condo, but it was just a place to sleep, shower, potty and recouperate from 12-16 hours in nature.

  69. Peg #3675 says:

My last event that was made sweeter was just the other night and going to our fireworks. It’s nothing for 20,000+ people to show up for them and I just hate having to deal with all those people and having to arrive 3 hours before they even start to just sit and wait. Then, I realized I could take pictures and make some great lo’s so then I was excited to go and have the pics now to remember it by. I’m glad I did go.

  70. Kristin in OH #2764 says:

Camping is definitely not my thing. My dh & boys enjoy it though. I know when we went to Illinois last time, we were going to take my 2 daughters to the American Girl store. I was a little concerned about driving in the Chicago traffic but knowing what I wonderful time we would have once we got there made it all worth it.

  71. Maxine Hodges says:

Glad you had a great time. I think that one of the reasons I love to go fishing with my husband is the opportunity to take pictures of the lake, wildlife, scenery, the (slimy) fish and the thrill of victory when my husband lands a big fish. (We throw them back in)

  72. Laura #1943 says:

Glad to see you embraced your adventure !! We LOVE to tent it !! We head out to Glimmerglass State Park (near Cooperstown!!) and enjoy everything camping has to offer !! My favorite part about camping…NO TV !! (or phones, or computers)…REAL down time !! The smell of the pine trees and the crackling fire (which I usually fall asleep in front of !!) It’s great !! LOVE this RAK…thanks for sharing it AND your photo !!

  73. Jacqui says:

I’d have to say it was our family vacation last year. Living here in South Africa, we don’t see much snow, but ventured into our local Drakensberg mountain range to a guest farm for a couple of days break and some rest and relaxation. The night before we were supposed to leave it snowed! So heavy that we couldn’t leave and had to spend and extra day there. This was an awesome experience for us all and I got some GREAT pics that I have been able to scrapbook!!

  74. Erica Johnstone says:

I just love the photo of you popping your head out of the tent! I am so glad that you had fun. I looove camping, our whole family does and I have to say the best trip we have had was back in January we went camping for three weeks and decided to go on an overnight hike whilst we were away. The entire family hiked 20km carrying our own food, water, tents etc it was a blast! I still haven’t scrapped the photos - I better get moving you have inspired me! Thanks for a great post and I am glad the bears didn’t bother you :-)

It’s been aout 15 years since we last went camping. I used to love to get away from the phone and all of the rest of the world and just enjoy a little bit of nature. The only thing that I didn’t like is all of the work involved in getting ready and then again when you got home. The closest we get to camping now is the grandchildren sleeping out in a tent in the back yard.

  76. betsy rowan says:

Cammping is becoming the new family vacation with the economy. It can be alot of fun. Can also provide great remember when stories when thing go wrong!!

  77. Caroline (3546) says:

Every year we do a girls weekend and I look forward to scraping it almost as much as the trip!

  78. Marla #3291 says:

how fitting to ge able to possibly win an outdoors pack. We went and had a picnic supper for the 4th with some friends that were camping and I took some firework photos for the first time. We also have a fun weekend camping trip planned at the end of July which would be great to scrapbook!! Thanks for a fun thing to win!!!

  79. Ghazal says:

Great photo, I’m glad you enjoyed your time … isn’t it great that scrapbooking makes every thing much easier?!
We’ve been to mountains last week … Can’t wait to scrapbook my photos.

  80. Charlotte says:

My family and another family went to visit our friend that was camping at a state park about an hour away. We just spent the day there, but we cooked out and had a great time. I got lots of fun pictures from that!

  81. Kim #669 says:

Glad you enjoyed your camping trip. I’ve been camping since I was very little. I’m always enjoyed it but its been a long while since I’ve been camping-lately my vacations have been spent at Scrapbook conventions ;)

  82. Carey #2486 says:

    I absolutely love camping!!

  83. Julie Overby says:

How fun. Glad you had a great time!

Every event or vacation we go on has always been made ’sweeter’ by the possible pages that I know I’m going to scrap with the thousands of photos that I take. The last one was when we went to The Great Wolf Lodge in Washington. Super fun!

  84. Michele L. says:

I hope I am not too late for the RAK…we just got back from a nine day trip of being outdoors and in the wild! This line would be perfect for those 800+ photos I just took.

  85. Lisa Malachinski says:

Wow! Congrats I was a Girl Scout up until I was a Junior in HighSchool. What a blast we had, I think camping in general was my favorite part now I wish my city hubby was more of an outdoors nut than he is. I love the outdoors and my kids love it. We have all kinds of wildlife come through our property and what fun it is to see. Thanks for the opportunity to win some great prizes.

  86. Jeni Johnson says:

Forgot to say Angela…that pic of all of you in the tent is the BEST! So creative. Can’t wait to see it scrapped!

  87. Sarah #3020 says:

I’m glad you had a great time. Camping is something I really enjoyed doing with my family when I was a child!!

  88. Jennie #414 says:

    How great!
I’m looking forward to scrapping my almost 11 month old twins First Fourth of July!

  89. Ursula #2228 says:

Love that photo of you all in the tent. Great shot! Too fun!

We actually just got back from our own family vacation on Cape Cod. An entire week spent mainly at the beach building sand castles and dodging waves. I took almost 1000 pictures! I can’t wait to go through them all!

  90. Nancy #2876 says:

We started with tent camping and have many happy memories, and pictures, of our trips. Our son was also a Boy Scout so he has memories, and pictures of those days. I wasn’t into scrapbooking back then so now I’m playing catch-up.

  91. Carlee #2225 says:

Glad to know you enjoyed your camping trip! My last visit to my parents definitely was better because of scrappy ideas I got from it…they completely renovated what used to be our “summer cabin” and now live in it full time…so it has been an adventure watching it change…especially since what was once my bedroom (the size of a twin bed) has now been cut apart to become part of the bathroom and part of the closet! LOL :)

  92. Annie says:

Congratulation on surviving the camping trip!!! I don’t know how you did it. Even just thinking about a camping trip is too much for me! My next scrapbooking project is going to be about the week-end we spent in New York a couple weeks ago.

  93. Ruby # 4618 says:

I remember the family camping trips to Lake Hartwell GA when I was just a kid. There was something wonderful about waking up in the morning and eating scrambled eggs and bacon cook on a camp stove and then when it warmed up enough jumping in the lake for a swimming. Then at night we would sit around the campfire and listen to the grown-ups tell stories about when they were kids. I never even missed the TV. What fun! It’s been a long time since I camped out. But I bet I can find plenty of pictures from the old days. What a great project that would be!

  94. Tamara #437 says:

I love camping but unfortunately between my and DH’s work schedule we just don’t get to do it!

Glad you had fun :) it’s a fabulous thing to do with your kids.

  95. Sharon Sprouse says:

Takes me back to my first camping trip….was dating a real woodsy type guy and his whole family had this beautiful property here in Virginia where they all camped out together for a full weekend. It was a valley surrounded by trees and peppered with tents from his family. In the early morning hours, I got up and took my two girls, fearing that we just might freeze to death, inside the car and started it up and turned on the heat. I turned the car off later and reentered the tent….well..everyone started getting up and evidently, the car motor could be heard for miles as it echoed in the valley and of course, I was the butt of the joke all weekend cuz I couldn’t hang with the outdoors crowd. Thank goodness, my camping “skills” have been upgraded (helped that we ditched the tent and got a camper now…hehehhehee) and we just recently went on a camping trip where I got the cutest pictures of my five year old trying to fish. Thanks

  96. Casey # 4508 says:

Glad you liked camping and Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places to camp….great pic (like a totem pole). Our ah haaaaa moment was arriving at Crater Lake…our truck climbed and climbed and climbed getting there….it was breath-takingly beautiful….pictures in a pile but not scrapped yet

  97. Veronica Noechel says:

Definitely the trip I just took last month with all the inlaws (Yep, all the nephews and the neice too.) Any time I started to get a little nervous about it, I just thought about all the scrapping to come. I can’t WAIT to get the photos printed!

Welcome to lead Fiskateerhood! I’m sure you’ll be as great as the last group (and I looooved the last group!)

  98. Danielle says:

I am not a camping person either but there are lots of cute camping scrapbooking things out there now so I am glad you get the chance to use some! Last weekend was my big family reunion we have them every 5 years and I have been working on a heritage album for the reunion everyone loved it. Now I have so so many pictures between everyone probably 1000 or 2000 really!!!! and I can not wait to get them printed so I can scrapbook them! I love when my whole family gets together it is wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win!!! Have a wonderful weekend, and happy crafting!!!!

  99. Wendy Jo says:

Hey if you really LIKED camping, I know someone who works for an outdoor supply and apparel company that can hook you up with the goods! (wink, wink)

  100. Bethie #269 says:

My BIl brought my naugthty nephew over for me to watch while he fixed my roof. I was sure it was going to be horrible, and it wasnt great, but I made it through the day, exhausted with great photos of DS having so much fun with him.:)

  101. Robin # 2982 says:

Camping was fun when I was in Girl Scouts. But now I don’t like it. I can remember one time when our Girl Scout troop went camping and all of us got the flu when we got back home. So of girls had why they were there and they went home but we still got it.

  102. robindiane #2953 says:

On our last vacation, we were playing putt putt golf. There was a waterfall and I took pictures of DD just so I can do a layout!

I am not a big camper..had a bad experience when I was 16 and haven’t been back..unless it is in a RV or a hotel. LOL

  103. Tana says:

Just last night my 31/2 year old daughter and I made cookies together. The recipe was one that I remember making with my Mother and Grandmother. My daughter looked so cute in her apron with chocolate everywhere, I had to stop everything and grab the camera. I want her to have the same wonderful memories of baking with me that I have of baking with my Mom.

  104. Carrie #4114 says:

Hope you have a wonderfully fun trip!!! Thanks for a fun RAK opp.

Our last fun trip was to Dallas to see my family, I will love to scrapbook all the pages of my son and his grandma!

  105. Janice Stovall says:

Angela - So glad you survived! I’m not much into the outdoors life myself. My idea of “roughing it” is to stay at the Holiday Inn instead of the Sheridan!!
My last vacation was to CA with my husband, daughter and her new husband. We had a ball! And I got OVER 2000 pictures!! Talk about scrapbook heaven!!

  106. Rebecca #3451 says:

It’s so good to hear when someone enjoyed camping. My family and I have been camping for about 10 years and spent 4 of those 10 in a tent. We have upgraded to a pop up trailer but still love every minute of it! I actually just got home from camp a few hours ago. This weekend was particularly fun. Our friends who have a permanenmt had a big party on Friday and then the campground did “night at the races” on Saturday night. We had a blast…can’t wait to scrapbook it!

  107. Deborah Malbone says:

LOL about the trampoline!!! I would have done that with my Brownie troop, but honestly the thought of spending another night on the ground camping, well IDK! It’s fun but not worth the backache…

I just got back home from a vacation this weekend and am finally finishing washing the wet clothes and removing sand from everything that came home with us, but I am really looking forward to scrapping the pics of my dd’s with me at the beach, nothin’ but our toes, lol! I used a water camera for the first time…can’t wait!

  108. Karen (Ladydoc) says:

Glad you had fun camping. I am not a camper - I have been accused of saying the Hyatt Regency is “roughing it”. Just got back from a visit with my Mom in the Okanagon in British Columbia. I took oodles of photos. Yes, some of my favorites were photos I told myself to take - just because they’d probably look good on a scrapbook page.

  109. Kimberlee says:

We just got back from a family fun experience… too many people trapped in too small a house… but the pictures were priceless.. cant wait to share the page I finish with them

  110. Lynn #2244 says:

I DID the camping thing, while I was a Girl Scout. So NOW, when I say “I don’t DO camping”, it is the voice of experience! (lol) I enjoy hiking and walking thru nature trails, but sleeping in the great outdoors does NOT appeal to me. However, my dd and dh LOVE the whole “rustic” experience. (more power to them) The latest outing was for the 4th. We had a full day of “togetherness” and lots of fun…with pictures! :c)

  111. Jennytitus says:

We just got back from our campout at the beach and we are also still washing sand out of everything and everyone and I CAN’T WAIT to scrapbook it! Cloud 9 is fast becoming my FAVORITE line of paper! Thanks for the chance for the RAK!

  112. Laura #442 says:

I too had lots of camping adventures from girl scouts but now not so much! Our last trip was out to visit my brother in Seattle and I looked very forward to it but was a little apprehensive of travelling with the kids without my dh. We had a wonderful time and I have loads of photos to scrap and this mini album kit would be perfect…thanks for the chance!!

  113. Mary Jo says:

We went to our family cottage last week. I would have liked to do something a little more exciting but then thought about my memories of family vacations as a kid and now I want my kids to remember our vacations at the cottage.

  114. Ellen #3409 says:

Congratulations on your new position as a “lead’ and I am glad you enjoyed your outdoors adventure.
For the 4th of July fireworks, Mother Nature decided she would perform the show and lighted our neighborhood with lots of lightning and thunder. The 5th and 6th have been two days of neighbors helping each other clear the fallen trees out of our yards. While I was too busy hauling limbs to take pictures during the clean up, the pictures of our yards before and after the cleanup should be a memorable scraping event.

  115. Kimberley #2626 says:

Hey, glad to hear you had fun camping! We love to camp, but don’t get to go very often. I have a great caption for your first picture, borrowed from a card I saw years ago: My love for you is in tents. ;)

  116. connie #2909 says:

Glad to hear you had fun! I still have pictures from my son’s boy scout camp out to scrap. I will be scrapping pictures from this weekend 4th and my mom’s Bday which was on the 5th.

  117. Megan says:

DH comes from a huge camping family & I don’t so I did a page (in the gallery) from our first pop up purchase. I wasn’t very excited 2 weekends ago when we went out but the kids got along so well and never asked for electronics that I can’t wait to go camping again.

  118. sara h 2625 says:

glad to hear your camping was worth the trip. Now that you are home relaxing and in your norm you can scrap away. I would love to join you and scrap my camping/boating trip from last weekend. It was a nice change from the 2008 floods in iowa.
    Thanks your awsome!!

  119. Mardi says:

My idea of camping is in a hotel/resort! Glad you enjoyed your mini trip!

  120. Carolyn says:

Glad to hear you had fun camping over the weekend. I’m still holding onto pictures of my 2 Grandsons and the first time we took them to Disney World. I really need to get busy on them. I have put albums together for them to look at but no scrapping yet.

  121. kimmie says:

I love camping but in a cabin with running water and electric, ok maybe just the running water. I used to love to camp out

  122. mariah # 2457 says:

Glad to hear you had fun camping, I’m not a camping person, I get scared when my kids talk about going camping, I’d rather sleep in a nice comfy bed, under a secure roof,Fo this past weekend we were at my daughters place visiting, and had a very nice baseball game…. Mariah #2457

  123. RitaS says:

So funny how we think! congrats on surviving…I do things I am not especially fond of with my kids just for the photo opps - but camping…only if it comes with an ultra bed and mattress!

  124. Jena #220 says:

Wow! Lake Tahoe and camping. How cool - I live only a few hours from there and my DH and I have been talking about going camping there yet this summer. We have another family who are our camping buddies and they’ve been wanting to hit Tahoe too. But I have lots of pictures from our past camping trips which I need to find good scrapped homes for.

  125. Krysti says:

I scrapped last night trying to get a mini book of my recent beach trip - However my printer and myself got into it, so i ended the night with a card instead :( * Going to try again this week!

Good to hear you love camping, i miss it soo.. It rains too much here though :(

  126. Karen C #4500 says:

Congratulations on surviving your camping trip! My idea of camping is going without cable TV!! LOL ;)

  127. ~Sandy~ says:

Congrats on surviving your camping trip. The “adventure” that turned out sweeter when I thought of the scrapbook pages would have to be our last camping trip as well. I do enjoy camping, but on this certain trip, nothing went right. The weather was so hot it was miserable and made everyone cranky, the people camping around us was not enjoyable, and the bugs were out o full force. Add this to the fact that I didn’t want to go to this location in the first place and I was NOT a happy camper.

  128. Erin Grotegut says:

    Congrats on your camping adventure!

I have to agree, I am not necessarily NOT a camping person and not necessarily a TOTAL camping person. Give me an air mattress or a cot and I am “good to go”… sometimes. LOL!

Our last “adventure” that was made sweeter when I thought of the scrapbook pages that would come of it was the trip we took to Lake Tahoe last fall for a city council assignment that my dh had. We were SUPPOSED to stop in at Hood, CA to visit a girlfriend of mine and also visit Yosemite Nat’l Park, but our car had some serious issues with traveling that day and we ended up broken down in Bridgeport,CA which is about two blocks long and two blocks wide on a holiday weekend. Nothing was opened and everyone was up in Reno at Hot August Nights celebrating. Our hotel was booked up so we weren’t sure where we’d end up sleeping that night and our cell phones didn’t get service there unless B stood up on a fence outside one of the little gift shops.

To make a long story short, it all worked out. We found someone who’s dh was an auto mechanic and gave us a temporary fix to get us up to Tahoe so we could find a reg shop to fix the car.

At the time, it totally sucked and was miserable, but a variety of angels happened to wander into our lives that weekend to make it a sweet experience.

I still need to finish the scrapbook pages. My friend in Hood, CA who we didn’t get to see had made me the most darling little book to put pics of our trip in. I now have pics in it but need to finish the journaling.

  129. carol :) says:

YAY for camping! The last adventure we had was taking the class hermit crabs for Spring Break. I wasn’t thrilled to have them, but I loved the pics I got. One night one crab came all the way out of his (her?) shell and I even got pics of that. (And yes, it was cool!)

  130. Melissa Wollmann says:

wow…finally getting caught up with all the blog posts…
would love to get my hands on those items

  131. Sandy #1781 says:

I’m so glad you liked camping. There’s nothing quite like it! And the new Cloud 9 “outdoors” line is perfect for remembering our special times in nature.
