I am so thrilled to be a part of this slumber party! The goodies I used to decorate and embellish this frame were all from the amazing Heidi Grace Daydream Believer line.
The frame that I decorated came from Secret Scrapper. It is made of sturdy MDS material, a wood product. I love the look of scalloped edges, but I don’t always have the time to trace and cut out each little scallop. This time, I painted the outside and inside edges of the frame with Jaquard Pearlescent Blue paint which matched the color pallet of the Daydream Believer line perfectly!
It was a hard choice, but I finally decided on using Heidi Grace Decor Stripe paper for my frame. It looks like the perfect color pallet of a dream garden! To create a window in the patterned paper, I traced the frame hole onto the backside of my paper, making sure that my frame was straight and the stripes were perfectly vertical. I used my Fiskars fingertip knife to cut it out. I inked the edges of the frame before adhering with Mod Podge and my trusty brayer to get any air bubbles out.
If you look closely at the edges of the frame, I used the threading water punch idea with a twist. I had some gorgeous Heidi Grace Icons Rub-ons of flowers and the adorable birdy. I cut them out individually and placed them in the middle of a few of the scallops.
For the corners, I used a single flourish off of the Heidi Grace Borders Rub-ons. I love the finished look it gave the frame. I added a coat of Mod Podge over the top of the patterned paper and the rub-ons to seal and protect the surface.
Embellishing was a snap. I used Heidi Grace Large Glittered Flowers as a base and decorated these with hearts and swirls from Heidi Grace Punchboard Add-Ons. I used two thicknesses of pop-dots to raise centers of the flowers to different heights.
I had to decide which photo to use for this frame. I was originally going to use a black and white photo because I thought that the pattern and color of the paper would detract from any photo, but I found that this was not the case. I chose to use this photo of my son at a gardening summer camp, back when the weeds were taller than he was. The photo and frame remind me of the goodness and beauty of all the things they learned that week.
One last thing. I had a package of Heidi Grace Clear Words Stickers. They are gorgeous transparent stickers with many different words in a variety of beautiful patterned frames. I placed the word “beautiful” on the back side of the Mini Florals Clusters paper and cut the shape out leaving a little outline around the edge. This I placed directly on the photo like a caption.
In the process of creating this project, I fell in love with the Daydream Believer line. There is no end to creating with these coordinated items. I can’t wait to start my next project and I hope you will be inspired to create something too! Thanks for letting me be a part of the party! Happy Scrapping!
