Rebecca Peck: Only time

Ever since I was a second-grader and saw the Fifth Dimension in concert, dancing around the stage in purple costumes and singing the “Age of Aquarius”, purple has been my favorite color (yes people, I’m old). My daughter loves all things purple too, and I’m sure I’m to blame. Naturally, I fell in love with the new “Only Time” collection from Heidi Grace, so when I was asked to make something with it, I jumped at the chance! But, what to make? I pondered it for a while, and then I remembered something I had stashed away in the basement. Months ago, I had spotted these acrylic sign holders on clearance for 50 cents at the office supply store. Of course I bought them all, but “Only Time” would tell what I was going to do with them, hee hee! Well, their “Time” has finally arrived! I decided to make one into a cute plaque for my daughter’s room using papers, punchboard shapes, stickers, ribbons and the infamous Threading Water Punch.
I started by cutting a piece of the Flower Rings Shimmer Glitter paper to the size of the acrylic with my Fiskars desktop rotary trimmer. I then cut an 8 ½” x 2 ¾” piece of the Only Time Main paper (I used the orange checked side), and punched along one edge with the Threading Water Punch. I used my tape runner to adhere the two papers together, then added the Alphas cardstock stickers, the Add-Ons punchboard swirl and hearts, and the dimensional Flowers sticker. I trimmed the photo of my daughter to 3” x 3 ½”, mounted it onto a slightly larger piece of Dots Shimmer Flocked paper, added the “Smile” Glitter sticker, then adhered the photo using the tape runner. I added the other punchboard swirl, then used a ¼” circle punch to punch the four holes. I threaded two lengths of blue ribbon from the collection through the holes, and it’s ready to hang! I know my daughter will love it because it’s shimmery, it’s glittery, and it’s PURPLE!

May 8th, 2008 at 10:53 pmI think that purple is a very nice color, although green is my favorite. Your layout is nice I like to see the pictures off set on pages, it gives the page a little flair. Good job on the use of the products.
