3 fiskateers: 2 page layout

”more 2 page, multi photo layouts!” is one of the most common things that I get asked for more of. So, I asked 3 fiskateers to create just that! Here’s what they did…
Deborah Malbone #2644~ When I held a family reunion last year I took so many pictures that I had to find a way to fit them all into one album. I printed them in a small wallet size and devoted an entire “phonograph” album to this project. Usually you can find phonograph albums that have sleeves at Goodwill stores, or stores common to those. I used the Kimberley Poloson Old Fashioned Flowers products. Everything was so rich and beautiful in this line that I even used the outside of the package from the Mat Stack. I grunged up the edges of the book, paper, and embellishments using ink. I added chipboard which I had painted in kraft acrylic paint, as well as other heirloom embellishments for an old feel. By adding the pictures in color it represented the present. My favorite part of this project was the keys which were a part of the Metal Pieces. I tied ribbon to each one and weaved it through the pre-cut holes in the tags which also act as my tabs for the different pages. I as able to create what feels like a piece of the past in a somewhat current time. Everything coordinates so well and is perfect for a project like this one. This gorgeous line lends itself to be used for so many purposes whether it be for reunions, weddings, classic photos, or genealogy projects.

Jenifer #679~ When I received the Sunrise Smoothie paper It was so yummy it made me feel like summer. I knew right away I wanted to use the pictures of my Daughter that Ive had for awhile but haven’t done anything with, and this paper was perfect. I used the Lacy summer days punch and put rain dots for the flower centers and then connected my Double Page with sickles as vines. The journaling stickers were a perfect way to break up some of the journaling, I loved them and I know that I will be using them for a long time.

Sharon Carroll #1418~ I had so much fun creating with the Cloud 9 Sunrise Smoothie line. I knew it would go great with the pile of beach pictures I had waiting to be scrapped. I am a linear scrapper, so when I am designing a 2 page multi photo layout one thing I really try to achieve is balance. For one page layouts I may leave more to chance and just play with the photos on the page until I like how they look. But for a 2 page layout I usually sketch out how I want it to look based upon the number of photos I want to use. I find it easiest to divide the page into sections or a grid to figure out the photo placement. One thing I have learned is that you can still create balance across the 2 pages even when using photos of varying sizes as long as they still end up taking up the same amount of space. On the left hand page I wanted to use an enlarged photo as the focal point. The photo I had was a 5″x7″. I really needed one that was larger to balance out the four 4″x3″ photos. Rather than print another photo, I cut a photo mat to the size I needed. I also embellished the bottom of the photo mat with the word “summertime” printed on a transparency to balance out the space. On the opposite page I achieved the same effect by combining a 4″x6″ photo and the title treatment. Finally, as much as I love straight lines, I used my current favorite Fiskars tool - the threading water border punch, to create a decorative border at the top and bottom of both pages to add a little flair.
May has some papers to give away - enough for a 2page layout of your own! Winner will be notified via e-mail.
