NEW CHALLENGE:

I have talked about it before, and I even have done lessons on it. When it comes to scrapbooking- journaling counts. Layouts with just titles, or very minimal story telling are ok, but my scrapbooks are about the content. the memories. the stories. Those are the pages I cherish and re-visit again and again. The little/no journaling pages? While they might be pretty, they just don’t hold the same place in my heart.
So here’s my challenge: Create a scrapbook layout with a great story, meaningful content… GOOD JOURNALING! I am not asking for a specific amount- sometimes 3 sentences is good, sometimes 3 paragraphs! The challenge here is to do a layout that you really focus on the story. Beyond who/what/where/when… get into a special and specific memory.
Rules: Must be a NEW layout created just for this challenge in the size you normally create in. Must be posted on-line (fisk-a-teer gallery prefered- but other is ok too) and you need to post a comment here with a link to the layout.
Deadline: May 1st (end of day)
Prize: One or more will be drawn randomly from entries for a prize pack full of Heidi Grace, Cloud 9, and Kimberly Poloson journaling mounts, stickers, alphabet stickers, and more goodies to help inspire good journaling. There might even be a stamp set thrown in…
Happy Scrapping!

April 11th, 2008 at 2:52 pmGreat challenge. I always want to journal like this and I think and think about it. Then when I go to create my layout, I forget and don’t leave room. I used to journal so much more. I really need to get back to it.

I was definitely helped out by your creative un-block posts as well. Looking through old photos is such a good way to get started, and I hadn’t looked through some of these that my Mom gave me, so that was a perfect reminder/way to get started.
Thanks for the inspiration, May! I finally really had fun making something, which hasn’t happened in a while. :]

April 12th, 2008 at 11:23 amI thought my hubby gave me flowers for Valentine’s day but turns out it was my teenage son.
Here’s the link to my LO:
http://www2.fiskateers.com/portal/index.html?ctrl:id=window.default.MediaGalleryWindowA&ctrl:type=render&ctrl:windowstate=maximized&op=vpic&user=3618&ccomm=1&offset=0&cPicId=19508
The journaling reads:
Valentine’s Day – 2008
As I walked in the house, I saw these beautiful flowers sitting on the kitchen table and oh, how surprised I was. I was thinking in my mind “Wow, how sweet of Mark to buy me flowers”…but then I looked at the card. They weren’t from Mark, they were from Troy, and he used his own money to buy them. What a very special and unexpected Valentine’s present.
Thanks for the challenge May

This is one of those stories that I will never forget, but I wanted to document it. It is also one of those times that I did not get a picture to go along with the story - so the LO is kind of simple - but it effectively tells my story and it has a lil humor added to the LO.

April 13th, 2008 at 10:37 pmI tried another LO…this one with MORE journaling. More along the lines of the actual challenge…I think I better captured the moment with this one.

April 17th, 2008 at 7:12 pmOk, it looks like all the links have disappeared, so I will re-post the link to my blog. I’ve done one Journaling Challenge page for each of my girls: Brigid’s is “Tough Enough” and Aileen’s is: “I Want You to Know”. They’re both in my Fiskateers gallery as well as here on my blog…

April 20th, 2008 at 9:13 pmI was sooo excited when I read your challenge. It is a hard one for me, or so I thought. I never journal…I come up with spiffy little titles but I never do a big journaling block. My entry is of my two best friend’s birthdays. This is the most journaling I have ever done and I loved it. I can’t wait to take more pictures to I can journal more!!
