get started (challenge):

Yesterday I started to share about the challenge I’m issuing- here’s the details.

First off, a few months ago I made a list. Every single thing I am unhappy about (myself/my life) and how I could change them. Now- I realize everything can’t be perfect… but *I* Have the power to change things up and make life better. So, looking at my list it boiled down to one simple thing:

I want to clean up, simplify, and streamline a lot of areas in my life that are messy or unfit. This includes my studio, closet, and getting back into shape personally too.

Next, I started figuring out ways to take the first step. I have the patience of a movie montage when it comes to making positive changes. If I can’t do it fast, I get bored. Terrible, I know… but I’m working on it! One of the things I’ve done is to make myself accountable to others. Another thing is to just think about the tiny steps towards my goals (rather than the whole thing). It’s working. I’m down 5lbs in the last 6 weeks. My studio is 10% truly clean and clear. It’s working. Progress is starting to show!!!

So anyhow, now that I’ve been at this change stuff for 6 weeks I’ve decided I’m ready to bring you all on board. YOU choose something you really want to change. If you want to loose weight, get good at scrapbook journaling, be more adventurous in crafting, keep things clean… whatever! The challenge is to join me for the next 2 months and make the changes. There will be rewards to those who can complete this challenge. We can make this fun together!

Ok, so here is how to join in. post your goal + at least 6 steps to get there here. I’ll check in on Wednesdays and Saturdays about this… and we’ll talk about getting a buddy, making progress, little steps, oh- and no excuses too…

brad.JPG caddy.JPG reward #1: I use my fiskars craft caddy for brads and tools (scissors, craft knife, stylus, etc). LOVE IT! (and hint: this will be the first reward for a few who participate in the challenge!)

This sound Fantastic, I want in. I want to clean my scrap space. You should see it-like a tornado hit it- Not good. I have a nice size space but only use maybe a foot of it because of all the clutter.

    steps:
    1 determine the needs
2 Im a multiple crafter ie, scrapbooking, sewing, quilting etc and it is hard to fit all the different crafts into one managable space.
3 take managable steps to decrease clutter
4 dont purchase new stuff until old stuff has been used or given away
5 keep it organized once the task is completed.
6 Dont give up, it will take awhile.

I hope this is a good start and now that I have it down in writing I know I am more apt to do it. Thanks May

  2. Chell Scott says:

I’m in, there are a few things I can work on.

My main goal is to manage my time better.
    Steps:
    1. Make a list of things to get done in a day
    2. Use a calendar
    3. Choose certain days for house cleaning, and certain days for studying. All in the same day doesn’t work!
    4. wake up earlier! UGH!
    5. Make more ‘Me” time including excersize time.
    6. Enjoy the little things!

  3. Sarah #3020 says:

my goal is to lose weight
My six steps to help me achieve my goal
    -make healthier food choices
    -stop snacking
    -be more active
-don’t keep junk food in my house
-choose a diet I can stick to
    -don’t cheat once I start

I have struggled with my weight for a long time and it is about time I’m pro-active instead of complaining about it.

  4. kimberlee says:

Congratulateions, May!! Way to go! Awesome!
My goal is to lose weight. I was shocked to hear I gained back 15# in a year. :( So I’ve had ENOUGH! And like you, May, I get so impatient when results don’t come fast enough, and that’s just how weight loss is. Sigh

    My 6 Step Program:
    1. track my eating daily
    2. exercise 5 days/wk with WATP. Love you, Leslie Sansone!!
    3. keep track of it all on SparkPeople, blog it, and MB
    4. TELL someone each day that I exercised (and ask a friend if they exercised today…they’ll probably stop calling me! LOL)
    5. bake less often and learn to bake healthier
    6. eat more vegetables

Of course I’d like to also: manage my time, declutter, keep up with housecleaning, and memorize Scripture every day…but one baby step at a time. Or I’ll get overwhelmed and QUIT it all!

  5. melita says:

Sounds like a great challenge May! I totally need to declutter my house. Clean out the closets, donate clothes and toys the kids have grown out of, and me too! There are just piles of stuff everywhere and it is a bit overwhelming. So this is my plan:
    1. Deal with one area of the house at a time (rather than trying to do one massive clean because that really never works for me, everything only gets half done).
    2. Sort out what can be donated from what is trash.
    3. Actually take the stuff to Goodwill/Salvation Army or arrange for a pick up if necessary.

  6. Cat #1821 says:

OH man. I have so many things to work on. Can I just pick keeping the house cleaner in general? Um, this is embarrassing I’m realizing.

-Don’t drop bags, etc by the door when I get home and leave them there for days…put away right away or at least in the next few minutes/hours.

-Go thru mail immediately and recycle what is junk/organize bills right away.

-Take laundry all the way downstairs right away.

-Swiffer/lint roll daily/every other day so that the cat hair doesn’t accumulate so much.

-Put away purchases right away-whatever they make be. If it’s scrap/craft stuff, put it in the appropriate place rather than leave it on the worktable.

-PUT RECEIPTS WHERE THEY GO!!!!!!!!! So hard for me with my business..you’d think by now I’d be all over that. Nope. I suck.

  7. Vicki Bell says:

I have two major things bothering me.
    #1 - My weight
I have started back to following the weight watchers program as of this past Monday. My steps are:
-Get back to regular working out at Curves on my lunch breaks.
    -Actually attend WW meetings.
-Work out at home (this really gets results)
-Journal all of my daily food intake.
-Stay within in daily ‘point’ range.
-Drink my 6 8oz glasses of water -or more every day.

    #1 - Organizing my embelishments.
If you look at the pictures of my scraproom in my gallery you would think that I have it all very organized. For the most part that is true. It has to be orderly for me to function. My problem is that my rub-on’s and everything that hangs on my ‘rod’ like a clip it up is a mess. I was so organized when I kept them in a binder. Now some are in a drawer and some are hanging, but there is no ’system’. It is driving me nuts. The plan:
    -divide them be category
-decide how I can organize so that I can function.
-Clear out the ones I don’t use and give them away.
-Hang only the rub-on’s or whatever I decide needs to be hanging.
-Just ‘do it’ instead of putting it off.
-Maintain whatever system I come up with.

  8. DeannaP #3595 says:

Ok… I’m in too… My goal is to organize/clean up my craft room!

    1. DO NOT purchase another item until this is accomplished.
    2. Have a spot/container/folder for everything and then label it.
    3. Donate/give away all supplies (not tools) that have not been used in the past 6 months.
    4. Maintain by cleaning up each night before going to bed.
    5. Do not purchase “just in case” items. Only purchase items that are needed to complete the project/projects you are currently working on.
    6. Put new purchased items in their spot right away.

  9. Amanda says:

My challenge for myself…Get my miscellaneous material/ sewing supplies organized. I have like 5 roughnecks that have material in it and 2 shelves full. I have the shelf space but need to get extra boards made.

What I hope to do in the next little while:
~ Get wood to make shelves for 2nd side of shelf.
~ Dump Roughnecks into a pile
~ Sort by kind ~Fleece, knit, bedding, junk
~ Decide what goes where..bedding can stay in roughnecks since I don’t use it that often
~ Don’t buy ANYMORE dress material till what I have is made!! (I currently have 13 on hand. 3 of which I have to make for an upcoming wedding.
~ Utilize what I have when sewing.
~ Find creative ways to use bits and pieces so they too get cleaned up.
    ~Get rid of what I don’t need!!!

That’s one thing I’ve been attempting to do for a while now and can’t seem to get to first base with. Thanks for the challenge May.

  10. kim3timemom says:

  11. Niecia #3006 says:

Wow this is kind of an emotional challenge but I’m in for it…

My GOAL is to get my family schedule back on track so I can have more time to scrapbook and get caught up on all 5 of my kids books.

    1. Don’t stress over the little things.
    2. Make a schedule for me and my kids
    3. Be consistant!
    4. Just say “NO” to things that are just not very important.
    5. Pick just one little job to do everyday.
    6. I am important too, and I need time for myself without feeling quilty.

Thank you for helping me think about what I need to change in my life…. :)

  12. Cristal AKA Pinky #3405 says:

Well since I accomplished my goal to move away from Oregon last year.
My new goal is to help my husband feel more loved and appreciated.

#1 Give him a hug every day and hold his hand
#2 Sit with him when he asks even if I don’t feel like dropping everything to do it.
#3 Stay up one night a week until he gets home (2am) and give him some talk and smile time
#4 Leave him some note son his steering wheel lettign him know he is in fact a real man and a good father.
#5 Have clean towels for him every day….so he does not have t rummage through the laundry! haha
#6 Tell him I appreciate his hard work when he calls from work every day.

I can only handle that much for now! Anything more might KILL ME! hahahaha

  13. Melissa #1464 says:

Thanks May! This is just what I need!
My big goal is to clean, clean out, and organize my home. With my husband deployed, I’ve been pretty lax with things and need to get into gear.
#1…go through my garage sale/eBay stuff and get it posted and get it out of this house!
    #2…clean up/organize my craft space
    #3…downsize my daughter’s toy collection
#4…get a new bookshelf/case so I don’t have them stacked all over the house
#5…go through kitchen cabinets and get rid of stuff I don’t need/use
#6…get more tape for my label maker so I can organize better!

Of course there’s more…but those are good starting points for me! Come on Fiskateers…we can do this!!
    ~Melissa #1464

  14. Rebecca says:

I want in…I need to clean, organize and streamline. My craft space is in my bedroom and it has leaked all over the room. I am constantly batteling between scrapbook stuff and clothes for space to sleep, I’m a slob!
    I need to…
    1)throw stuff away!!
    2)Get more storage containers
    3)rearrange
    4)find my desktop
5)reorganize my scrapbook stuff so i can find things easier
    6)remove several layers of dust

I will try very hard not to give up. I’m like you. I’m easily bored and distracted to this might take a really long time LOL.

  15. KellyB says:

Ok, I have a lot of goals i’d like to work on right now, but i’ll focus on one for now! I have been thinking along the same lines of May - simplifying and cleaning up. So my goal is to clear the clutter of my house/life so I can focus on the important things.
    1) Go through all toys and donate to charity.
    2) Clean out kitchen cabinets of old items.
    3) Clean out bathroom cabinets of old items.
    4) Give every piece of clothing that doesn’t fit or isn’t worn away.
    5) Re-organize entertainment center (with no toys!)
    6) Anything that’s not furniture that touches the floor needs to be put away or go away!

  16. Sweepnut # 3618 says:

Okay, Count me in. I have GOT to get my house clean and organized! Sometimes the thought makes me feel overwhelmed but I know I can do it.
    1. I will get storage containers for my son’s room so he will have a place to put his small toys and scrapbook supplies.
    2. I will help him go through his books, toys, clothes, etc. and donate or trash what is not needed.
    3. I will clean out my closet so I will have room to put my completed scrapbook albums.
    4. I will clean out my desk so that I will have room to file things.
    5. I will get my important papers organized and file them (in my cleaned out desk) so that I can find them when I need them.
    6. I will dust those places in the house that have been neglected.

Thanks for the incentive to get myself in gear :-)

  17. Gina #2795 says:

    Okay, I wanna play too.

My goal is to get my house in better shape. While I do a good job of surface cleaning once a week and picking things up daily, I really need to do a move-the-furniture-and-clean-out-the-closets kind of clean. Along with that, I need to repair things that re falling apart, like the molding that has come unnailed, the paint that is scratched up, etc.

    1. Pick one room a month to focus on.
    2. Once a week, deep clean a section of that room…spend 1 hour only.
    3. Saturdays - focus on repairs and maintenance in that room.
    4. Be ruthless with stuff - give it away, sell t, but get rid of what we don’t need!
    5. Don’t spend a bunch of extra money sprucing up (think “Freestyle”).
    6. Be patient and don’t try to solve all the problems at once!

Love the idea of having someone to help me along!

  18. Trish #2702 says:

Count me in too. My goal is to lose weight / get in better shape.

    1. Commit to the ‘mindful eating’ approach to food.
    2. Maintain a food journal.
    3. Exercise at least 3 times a week.
    4. Drink more water, instead of pop.
    5. Learn to respect when I’m full and when I’m hungry.
    6. Take the stairs more often at work.

    Thanks for the motivation!

  19. doverdi says:

Count me in! I’ve let my health issues control my life for the past few years & I really need to get back on track. I really need to get better organized & that alone might make me feel better. Even if I can’t do it all at once, I should see the light at the end of the tunnel. As long as I work at it a little every day I should be able to accomplish this challenge.
    1. Organize & clean up my studio.
    2. Clean out my closet, donate the old clothes, purses, etc to charity.
    3. Get my kitchen & pantry organized.
    4. Do a thorough cleaning in the livingroom & declutter.
    5. Don’t drop my bags & clutter on the couch - put it away right away.
    6. Put a basket on the stairs to catch stuff that needs to go upstairs every day.
    7. Clean & organize my laundry room.
    8. Fold, sort & put clothes away right away.
That should give me a good start. Thanks for the boost in the right direction.

  20. Jennifer A #1301 says:

This is the perfect thing for me as we start spring cleaning. My goal is to have a place for everything and everything in its place.

    My steps:
    1. Deal with paper the minute it comes into my house, no piles!
    2. Go through toys - get rid of broken or ones with missing pieces - and donate ones we don’t play with any longer.
    3. Don’t buy scrappy stuff that I don’t have a place for right then.
    4. Sort through our closets and reorganize.
    5. Keep a needs vs. wants list with me and refer to it as we purchase items for our home/selves
    6. Journal about the process for future endeavors too.

  21. Kris #2961 says:

i’m in as well… i meant to start this as a new years resullution but just didnt have the motivation…
My goal is to start eating healthy and lose abit of weigh, just to be more comforable
-stop drinking so much pop(this will be so hard):(
-drink lots of water/ milk and healthy juice
-stop being so addicted to sugar/desserts/chocolate
    -start running/walking more
-eat alot of veggies and healthy foods… Thanks for the challenge

  22. Amber Moro says:

My goal is to lose 30 lbs. To be more specific, I would like to lose 4 lbs per month or 1 lb per week.

    My steps:
    1. No eating after 8 pm
    2. No sugar on monday, wed and Sunday
    3. Exercise 3 times per week 30 minutes each
    4. yoga class 1 a week (in addition to 3)
    5. Track progress in a journal

Thanks for the motivation and I would love a buddy to check in.

  23. Christi Shanks says:

I could make a book of things I want to change but I will say making my home more managable. and here are my steps.

    1. make a list of everything that needs to be done.

    2. Break list down into a managable schedule

    3. Make a list of heavy duty monthly chores.

    4. Have a major house cleaning spree and get everything cleaned.

    5. Follow weekly cleaning schedule.

    6. Enjoy more time to do the things I love because I am not spending all my free time avoiding cleaning!

  24. Shelley says:

I am SO glad to see this sort of challenge. my Ali Edwards inspired word for the year has been CHANGE. there’s LOADS of it going on in my house… for me - my daughter - my husband. the MOST significant one is my goal to lose weight. I joined WW and in 6 weeks am now down ELEVEN POUNDS! I have broken it down into mini goals… as far as milestones. I want to lose 75 total. To get there:
    1. WRITE DOWN everything!
    2. attend meetings weekly, without fail
    3. WATER WATER and MORE WATER.
    4. Cancel Diet soda completely
    5. reward myself along the way
    6. LOVE myself enough to follow through!

Can’t wait to see others jump on board!

  25. Colleen #2970 says:

Lots of things that I need to change, but I will start with losing weight
    a. eat more vegies
    b. exercise at least 3 times a week
    c. cut out all of the snacking
    d. drink less Diet Pepsi
    e. drink a lot more water
    f. try to not do the emotional eating.

My daughter is getting confirmed in two months which means a big party. So I would also like to get the house cleaner before then
    a. Declutter the Living Room
    b. Sort through all of the scrapbooking stuff and find a good storage system for t
    c. Sort all of the papers hidden behind the love seat that need to be put into scrapbooks
    d. Find a place to store scrapbooking supplies
    e. Find a place to store sewing supplies
    f Declutter kitchen.

  26. Betsy #2572 says:

I could add a bunch of stuff…but I think the big one for me is to GET MOVING…I’m not calling it “exercise”…it’s just moving…(it’s less intimidating that way)

    1) use TV time to stretch or use my balance ball

    2) encourage the kids in more physical fun stuff

3)see if SIL would like to walk with me (once it’s above freezing *GRIN*…good thing we have 6 weeks)

    4) actually Use my free Y membership

5)hook up my Dance Praise Revolution and play!

6)Try and not “reward” myself with food *grin* maybe some crop time out of the house!

  27. Carlee #2225 says:

Awesome work May…way to go!!! Thanks for the challenge…and inspiration!!!

I could probably just say DITTO to Kimberlee’s! :) Hehe I want to lose weight…in addition to decluttering, and getting more organized.

So, here are my 6 steps for managing…life:

    1. drink more water
    2. drink less coffee
    3. exercises…wake 30 mins earlier if necessary to get 30 mins in.
    4. track eating habits/food intake and monitor it
    5. participate in more outdoor activities with kids…take them to the park, go for a walk, something!
    6. downsize wardrobe (and reevaluate those clothes that I “may” fit in one day…be realistic!)

    Thanks!

  28. Elizabeth Double says:

My goal is to get my wardrobe in line and organized. I am a shopaholic and have way too many clothes. I have a painful confession that I am going to share;in the past I have been known to buy new clothes rather than do laundry. When I get the laundry done I don’t tend to get it all put away. The six steps I am going to take:
    1. take everything to the laundry and get it all clean
    2. sort everything to find that which does not fit or is out of style
    3. give away what doesn’t fit
    4. give away what doesn’t flatter my fluffy girl figure even if it fits
    5. find a place to put everything away and put it away
    6. do the laundry once a week on a schedule and finish the job

  29. Veronica says:

My goal is to create a “Safe Place” in my home to write, read, meditate, and…hide from my stress and fears.
    1. Choose a sector of the house that will be my sanctuary–a physical manifestation of a clear and creative mind
    2. enlist scott’s help to paint/lift things/remodel, prepare the canvas
    3. set up the basics–a desk, chair, comfy place to read–determine what is necessary to make it inviting and useful–a place that makes being creative easy–my own artist’s residency in my own home, a writer’s retreat
    4. make this space a gentle shrine–if it doesn’t make me feel like the creative, confident, artist I am, it’s OUT.
5.make regular appointments to retreat here to do the one thing that truly makes me feel like “THIS is why I am on this earth. I am a WRITER!” All else is second to this.

  30. Sheri says:

    GREAT idea May! I’m IN!!!
My goal is to declutter and to organize our home….which means…
    1) I will need to take one room at a time and go through the closets and
    2) purge…donate to a worthy cause…
    3) Organize what I want to keep so I know what I have..means getting clear boxes with labels..
    4) Having a Garage Sale
    5) Keeping my spending to minimums..
    6) Taking baby steps towards the ultimate goal of an uncluttered house!!!! To remember that it won’t happen overnight but in two months..it will look FAB!

  31. [Amy] says:

I am totally in on this one, May!
My goal is to clean up and keep it that way.
    Here are my 6 steps:
    1. Clear out the front room completely to start with a fresh slate.
    2. Get some more “organizationally friendly” furniture and actually set it up in there.
    3. Make a place for everything crafty in that room & anything that doesn’t have a place goes… it’s time to purge some craft stuff.
    4. Do at least one load of laundry a week & actually put that laundry away in my closet.
    5. Get rid of any clothes that I haven’t worn recently… another place where it’s time to purge.
    6. Once everything is in a place, spend a few minutes [or a bit more] each day maintaining it and making sure that everything stays clutter free and doesn’t get to this point again!

Looking forward to helping each other stay on track. :]

  32. Faye Marie Warriner says:

OK, this is for me and I am so in. I need to reorganize / clean my house and dispose of the excess.
    So……….here are the steps
    1. Take one room / area at a time and remove the items we don’t need / use and then either throw away or donate them.
    2. Of the items I am keeping, then create a space for them
    3. Have specific functions for each area and stick to it.
    4. Organize and label bins in craft room.
    5. Condense all items in craft room.
    6. Spend more time at home, working on projects instead of constantly being gone

    OK, here I go
    Faye

Step 5 I will work daily on putting my scraprack together so it is functioning.

Step 6 I will clean off my desk and keep the work space clean.

Step 8 I will finish old projects before starting new ones in my scrapbook….(adding pictures to pages gluing down the photos)

Step 9 I will continually add new photos of my room and the progress I am making.

Step 10 I will remind myself perfection is not the goal at this time its only to be functioning as a room again not as a storage dumping ground.

Step 11 I will not bite off more then I can chew in a project day or project weekend.

Step 12 I will journal about my feelings so I know what is working and what is not working for me. And to know why I am having such a difficult time letting go of the junk.

I will only take small mesurable steps towards my goal each three day goal will be small mesurable steps towards my ultimate goal.

So today being Friday I will go into my office and start going through the loose items on my floor, take photos and tackle the first two buckets. Being a weekend I will set another goal this evening for tomorrow and sunday.

I will reward myself on Sunday night with a DQ Sundae or Mc D’s Milkshake. Only if I meet each goal on Friday Saturday and Sunday.

Photos to come in my gallary this evening.

I’m going to start with my craft room. I felt it was almost organized when DH had a brilliant idea and I’ve totally changed it. My biggest problem in the “incomming” and I cannot follow the don’t add anything rule in my situation as a part time teacher. So… I think my steps will be…

    1. Take pictures of my room now (usable, but junky) and hang them around my computer screen where they will haunt me.

    2. Go through all imcomming mail every morning and file, pay, etc. to keep work area free of excess clutter, before turning on computer.

    3. Go through every sack, bag, case, etc. within an hour of coming home from the scrap store.

    4. Label everything as is even if I might change it. That’s a biggie for me. I’m not sure I like where each thing is, so I haven’t labeled anything.

    5. Turn off the computer after one hour each morning and spend 20 minutes straightening.

    6. This is the biggie! Clean out and tear down the studio add on. Create access to the cupboards and put everything in there. Then take excess craft stuff out to the studio if it can be stored in the cupboards there without air conditioning. This is an all summer project, but it is starting today, so I am including it.

My main goal this year is weight related. I have much to lose but can’t look at it all or I just get overwhelmed. My initial goal weight wise is 20 pounds. I started journaling and scrapbooking the journey in January. worked at it for 4 weeks the got overwhelmed and ill and stopped. My 6 steps as part of this journey are:

    1) drink enough water every day. I find myself eating when I am thirsty. This is a bad habit. This is the step I worked on in January. I was down 2 to 5 pounds just with this.
2)chocolate is a treat not a diet staple. Yes I know there are some that disagree. My body does not so well with sugar. I really need to cut it all out but haven’t been able to fully give up chocolate yet. When I am getting a virus I crave sugar. The sweeter the better. If I give in to the craving I retain as much as 5 pounds water. Yep the scale has swung 5 pound up in one day and down 2 days later. Ultimately I will give up all sugar but that will take awhile.
3)Planned meals helps the grocery budget and the body. I am trying to plan our meals a week at a time to help with balanced eating.
    4)Exercise.
5)Journal. Instead of beating myself up for missing a day write about it. What happened and why. Why am I on this journey? Try to keep my motivation through journaling.
6)Get a sleep routine. In the past I have found a regular sleep routine improves my energy level and helps my body to function.

I am hoping this helps me to enjoy life more. Thanks for the challenge, May. And Congratulations on the progress you have made so far on your journey of change.

  37. Michelle #3624 says:

May this is a great idea but I have to admit a hard one to see in print.

For the last few months I have noticed that I have not been doing what I should to keep my diabetes and my house under control and by doing so I might find a spot for all my scrap booking stuff. So I will be working on both of them.

    1. I will do my finger sticks everyday.
    2. I will watch my diet and write it down.
    3. I will drink lots of water
    4. I will get in my 3 miles of walking in 5 times a week.
    5. I will work on keeping my house cleaner.
    6. I will organize my stuff clean my closets out.

  45. connie melancon says:

I’m in too! I want to work on my house being “decluttered” and staying that way AND organize my scrapbook supplies so I will know what to bring and work on for crops instead of spending 1/2 of my cropping time doing this!

1)Don’t try and do it all in one day.

2)go through all clothes and give goodwill ALL clothes that we no longer wear or will wear.

3)do at least one load of laundry a night instead of doing it all on the weekend (wash, dry and PUT UP (this is the part that gets me in trouble-i keep moving the piles of clean folded clothes from one spot to another)

4)MAIL - go through and deal with it then and not later.

5)spend a little time each night on scrapbooking space.

6)have everything ready before crop so i can get more done.

    this is just the beginning…….

thanks for the challenge and support

I need to lose weight too… I lost all my weight after the birth of my second child… Then almost immediately became pregnant with my third… Unfortunately I didn’t have the willpower to start losing the weight again, and I now weigh more than I weighed full term with my last pregancy… ouch!! (If I say you below I mean me, I’m talking to myself in this comment *LOL*)

1 - Get motivated, the only way to feel better is to actually stick to it
2 - Don’t be tempted, by the “going out to lunch” crowd that I am a daily member of
3 - Don’t deprive yourself, instead indulge in moderation, if you deprive yourself of something you want, it just makes things tougher
4 - Get more active, it’s hard in winter months when it’s so cold outside, but the thaw’s a comin’
5 - Keep busy, instead of lounging after work, play with the kids, or keep your hands busy with scrapbooking (if hubby lets you get away with that *LOL*)
6 - Reward yourself, if you are successful, reward yourself, positive reinforcement always works!!

2.remove marriage license and anniversary cards from sigh and cringe…old yellowing album
3.collect all wedding supplies that I have already bought and put them in one central location
4.journal my thoughts about our wedding and ask other family members what they remember about our wedding day to include their thoughts
5.scrapbook this project every night for at least 10 minutes after everyone has gone to bed
6.treasure the project once it is complete and share it with hubby (hopefully by the time our anniversary rolls around)

Thanks May; This is a great motivator!

Wow, reading all these goals was fabulous! Good Luck to all of us.

I picked one of my New Year’s Resoulations that I haven’t started and am two months behind on starting. So since I don’t give up easy this is what I would like to do. How is this improving myself? It will help be to learn to teach online and meet a challenge that I’ve set for myself.

Complete and publish one layout “how to” for beginners per month on the Fellowship of Scrapbookers blog.

    1. Put aside 1 hour blocks three times a week
    2. Create the project
    3. Decide to video or take pictures
    4. Make it a priority
    5. Learn what beginners want most
    6. Eventually get sponsors for giveaways for the products I use.

This is a lofty project I want to do and continue. I think for my first move I will do a survey to find out what our beginners really want to learn.

That’s where I’m at. I would love to do all the above. But right now one thing at a time and this project will bring me great joy.
