Looking towards 2008…

I am not one of those crazy resolution people.  I have tried.  By February I am so burnt out on the high-pressure resolutions that I just chuck them out the window.  So, recently I went to a few goals - more attainable, less stressful goals.

This year, I have one so far…

To try two new recipes per month.

I was going to say one per week, then I realized there will be weeks that isn’t possible with travel and work and thought it was too much, so 2 per month.  In my mind, more is better, so I can always do one per week, but the minimum amount is 2 per month.  I have been in a rut with my cooking lately, and, as the boys get bigger, I want them to start trying new foods, so this is a great way to do just that!  I have my new **autographed** Rachael Ray cookbook and I also got “Nigella Feasts” for Christmas.  The Food Network website is full of great ideas as well, so I already have a pile of stuff to try!

What are your goals/resolutions for 2008?  Are they simple or something truly life changing?  What do you hope 2008 brings to you?

My job today is to sit down and set my goals for 2008. I know I want to do more in my scrapbooking…finish projects, start some new ones, hopefully become a Fiskar’s demonstrator and that will be a new adventure and challenge for me. I want to spend more time with family and friends.

BTW I received Martin Yan’s Chinatown Cooking book, autographed, from my daughter for Christmas. For those who are older he use to have a show called “Yan Can Cook.” He still does a lot of shows on PBS and affiliates and on the Food Network. I was very excited.

But I’ll work on those goals.

Send cards for birthdays instead of procrastinating.
Goal of one layout per day (but don’t stress about it), it’s for fun!
    Enjoy life!

I’m still thinking about this. My usual saying is “The only plans I make are the plans to change my plans.” Happy New Year!

I don’t make resolutions anymore ! Just seems to set me up for failure.

This year, I will be writing down some goals that I want to accomplish in 2008…most of all have to do with Organization… I want to become a great craftsperson like all of you! I do have high hopes!

Plus…there is the losing weight issue and not letting others actions upset me :)

Debby…I loved Martin Yan’s show…Yan can cook, so can you !

    Blessings in 2008

My reolutions so far are few - and simple:

    Do something creative every day
Try for times of peace in my life

I still have to work out the wording

The only resolution I make is the one I’ve done the past few years. It’s the only one I’ve ever been able to keep. That is to not make any New Year’s resolutions. Can’t break what you don’t make. Pathetic I know; but it works for me and there’s no stress or regret involved.

Here are my top 3 for the new year:

    1) Gain 10 lbs. (Go ahead and gasp.)

    2) Avoid the espresso bars in town…all those soy lattes are killing my wallet!

    3) Create joy everyday through the expression of art.

I like the idea of 2 new recipes per month! I am in a cooking rut myself. Being sick over Christmas I watched a lot of TV and the food network got me inspired to get cooking. My friend got an awesome cookbook for Christmas - Deceptively Delicious and I think I am going to go buy that.

I hesitate to make resolutions as I seem to forget them. But I do have some goals for 2008.

    1. drink more water and less diet coke
    2. stop saving things for the perfect layout - just use my scrappy stuff!
    3. walk more with my family
    4. spend less time on the computer and more time doing the things I am reading about!

I love the idea of 2 new receipes per month. I have the old Yan Cookbook. Didn’t know he was still around. I too want to do all my own cards this year but my newest goal would be to practise playing my piano every day and maybe get back to taking lessons.

  12. Laura says:

To put it in one sentence”

    “Get myself in order” !

  13. Lyn Dwyer says:

I’m going with a focus word again for 2008….it’s going to be “ENJOYMENT”……..I have plans to spend time balancing my life:

    1……ME TIME
    2……FAMILY
    3……FRIENDS
    4……WORK

Well I’m with you it stresses me so bad when I fail with resolutions so I don’t really make them. I “vow” how does that sound to spend some quality time with my “big girl” friends this year. I get so caught up in my grandkids that I tend to not see my old friends and I want to try to work on that. Also just be a better person in general…that should be partly attainable!!! Happy New Year my friend!!

  15. donna says:

    good morning!

i do not do resolutions. they seem to take to long, or they are too big or overwhelming. what i do though is make a january chore calender list! one icky little task each day for the 31 days of january..and then the rest of the year to play! and stay organized hopefully!

the january chore calender includes things like, file all the scrap book scraps in their approrpiate colour drawer that have piled up! another clean the bathroom cupboard and toss the old stuff..you get the idea. one chore each and every day. and of course the dragon fly stamp with the whoo it is done is a huge incentive.

several nasty chores have carried over from year to year or been so successful that the second time they are done with more purging or better ideas for better organizing etc!

this is the third year i think and it really keeps things off to a nice fresh start. of course dismantling christmas is always there and rearranging christmas storage! a never ending task. but all done by the end of january..

    happy new year!

  16. Kelly Jo says:

Well, of course I want to eat healthier and start exercising.
But I have a large family and I’d like to send everyone a birthday card this year. I’ve got the birthday list and the 1st birthday of the year is in just a few days so I’d better get some stamps!

  17. janetrivs says:

    In a nutshell….

basically just to stay in shape. Not to let myself go and stay commmitted to the gym.

  18. Paula says:

I’m not a resolution person either because I’m always too hard on myself when I fail :-P However 2008 is going to my year for being organised. I need to learn better time management and balance things out - work/play/family/friends etc.

  19. melita says:

2007 was such a year of blessing I am very excited to see what 2008 brings! Not into resolutions so much, but there are some new fun things already in store! I am getting ready to teach my first class *gasp* at my LSS and another one of my goals is to learn to knit =)
