Mission: Possible {Nic}

What is mission possible? Well I send one of my crafting agents an assortment of product. She does NOT know what’s coming, or what rules will be given to her for creating. Impossible? Not for a fiskateer! The brave Nic (#1033) volunteered to take this on. Her rules? Use a little bit of everything that I send to create something. Here’s what she did:

resized_mission_1.jpg resized_mission_2.jpg resized_mission_3.jpg The first image is of the things May sent plus my canvas and paints.  Then is the painted canvas.  And then the finished item.  I truly LOVED making my brain think outside my “safe square” and I even conquered the Stamp Press (after a few practice goes that were less than sterling!).

I decided that I would attempt my first ever canvas.  I mixed magenta and white acrylic paint to make a pale pink (which dried darker than I expected) and painted the flat of the canvas.  I then added more magenta to make the paint darker and did the outside edges to give a shadowed effect when hanging on the wall.

I used my Fiskars Ultra-Shape Xpress, and oval templates to cut the photos, the paper and the chipboard to raise the photo off a little from the canvas.  Once I had these pieces stuck down I turned to the embellishments - the flowers were easy, one per corner and the brads also fell into place.  I knew where I wanted to stamp, and where I wanted the raindots.  But that fabric, oh that fabric it taunted me!! I tried to cut it in my Sizzix but it didn’t look right.  I considered making corners for the canvas but it seemed that I was overthinking it.  And I was.  It struck me that the leaves/foliage on the fabric would be perfect behind my flower embellishments.

Copy of resized_mission_3.jpgAnd so I was done - a piece of personalised art for my 9 yr old daughter Aleisha, using photos of her when she was a little 17 month old baby.
