Chelle #490- I altered the chipboard using stickles glitter, cloud nine raindrops and some sanding. The papers I used were scrappy cat brand, and I also used green magic mesh.
Mel #1985- I love using “naked” chipboard and being able to alter it to whatever project I’m doing. This layout uses Gin-X coaster chipboard. I painted all of the extra letters black to look like a search-a-word puzzle. Then, to highlight the words that I wanted to be seen, I used purple and green. I also added a little bling to them to make them pop a little more. I found that a good file or fine sandpaper works wonders on the rough edges that might be left from punching the letters out of the board. This was a fun way to use all of the extra letters that might go to waste after making the title.
Rachel #1918 - Having an assortment of different styles and sizes of alphabet chipboard can sometimes be difficult to use together. So I made them more uniform by painting them all the same color with the new Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger. The title of my layout is now easier to read, but still has a funky look to it with all the different font styles!
Also - with some alphabet chipboard, there is a negative and a positive. I find using the actual letters (the positive part) really easy, but I end up with lots of the negative letters left over. With the really big alphabets (like the Cloud 9 ones), I decided to trim off the bits that create the letter, and just leave the outer edge of the chipboard to make a frame for my journaling. I painted mine to go with the color scheme of the layout, but it could be left in it’s natural color too. Another idea would be to make them into funky photo corners!
Ok, now who wants some ABC chipboard? Post a comment here- winner(s) will be drawn Saturday morning…
