A note from the road…

Well, I knew that traveling to Philly this weekend with 2 kids in tow for a hectic fly in-fly out weekend wedding would not be easy, but this wasn’t what I expected.  Owen was up at 2:00 am so excited to fly that he couldn’t sleep.  So, I have been up since 2:00 am this morning.  Then, we fought O’Hare check ins and security with a double stroller, 2 backpacks, a diaper bag, a camera bag, a dvd player bag, and 2 car seats.  Jake cried 80% of the flight.  I sat between Owen and Jake.  We landed and put the kids on a bus to get to the rental car (all the security gear plus 3 large bags).  We finally get in the car and get to the hotel to find it less, way less, than the “quality inn” it is supposed to be.  Needless to say, it is 4:30 and I am ready for a nap.  Oh, and so are the kids who have not slept since their 20 min. naps in the car.  And, we still have a family dinner tonight…  good times!  So, needless to say - no rest for the weary!

PS - I know I said I was taking a break, but I wanted to let you all know that I wasn’t just hanging out on a beach somewhere, ignoring you…

It will get better! The kids will get into thier rhythm and everything will run smoothly for the rest of the weekend. No crying, no fighting, just peaceful, angelic children keeping thier hands to themselves. Those are my positive thoughts running to you. Hope you enjoy the weekend.

Just think you get to do it all again in 2 weeks for Danielle’s wedding. Hopefully, they will be experienced travelers by then and things will go better. Besides, the person booking this hotel has high standards and will make sure it’s ok for you, Matt, and my 2 sweet grandsons. Love you. Hang in there.
