Scrap-a-faire

I posted a few weeks back that I was signing up for this, and told you all I’d post on the first day to let you know what I thought of it. Well the site itself is BEAUTIFUL! Easy to navigate, cool graphics, and really makes you feel like you entered a scrapbooking world.

However I don’t feel like it is worth any cost of admission. I did pre-register so I got a $5 credit at 2peas (registration is $5) so really it was free since I’ve already ordered items from 2peas. I guess I’m just a little let down. YES- the ‘celeb’ chats look cool if I ever have time for one, and I’ve heard great things about the classes. However I thought that there would be interesting things, and you’d be able to purchase cool (new) goodies… not really so. Most of the vendor ’shops’ are little more than links to companies websites. Nice, but I can view those for free any time. Some companies (Fiskars!!!) have sweet give-aways going on, but again there’s not very many.

I guess I went in with high expectations for a cool shopping experience, a much bigger/better gallery, and more neat prizes and vendors. As I said before it is beautiful, and I hear great things about the classes. But general admission, well it just isn’t an affair I’ll remember. I do hope that they do this again and try to improve some of the areas I’ve talked about. An on-line scrapbook fair is a FABULOUS idea.

I took one class, and it is as it was advertised: a good basic “how to” for digital scrapbooking. I’ve heard from some of the gals in the chat room that the other classes are really nice - the sewing one seems to be very popular. I’ve peeked in on some of the celebrity chats too, and there is some nice conversations going on. But I’ll agree, unless you signed up for a bunch of classes, there really isn’t a lot of meaty content there. I clicked on the buttons to enter all the drawings, and checked out the galleries. I was hoping there would be a special “attendee gallery” where people who were taking classes could post their projects - that would be fun to look at, and it would give the instructors some feedback as to how well the classes were received. It’ll be interesting to see what improvements they make for the next Faire coming in the fall.

    Thanks for the honest feedback!

I also was SO DISAPPOINTED. It was so not worth it. I thought the shopping would be different–it just takes you to the manufacturer’s website and I can get to those on my own. Not worth any more of my time.

Sorry to hear it was such a disappointment. Hopefully they will improve on it in the future.

yes thanks for letting us know. Its a shame that it wasn’t like you thought it was going to be.

Are you able to email the organisers and tell them your opinions? Maybe that may help them next time.

I didn’t see it for I don’t pay for anything online anymore before I see something. Once bitten twice shy…. I have been suckered in and spent $50 NZ dollars for information I found out I could have got for free just by doing my own search on google!!! No - never got my money back either. So I’ve learn my lesson.

Oh by the way was the competitions, giveaways etc open to people outside the USA? Some times those things aren’t.

I agree with May about the shopping - it is disappointing. Only very few “booths” have some special discount and basically it is a collection of links to the websites. But the classses is something different. I signed up for 3 classes and did so far one of them - the decorative scissors. I liked it a lot!! I think that was very well spent $15.

thank you for your input, your honesty is very much appreciated, even though it isn’t easy to share when it is negative regarding this hobby we are all so passionate about!

I have to say that I’m mid-way my two classes and I’m really enjoying them. I’ve spent most of my time in the “Lounge/chat” area and there have been some amazing people popping in there to chat just randomly. I guess it depends on what you are looking for- I’m glad I signed up but maybe it’s because of the classes?
