Note: this collage has E’s trick or treat bucket, our candy to give out, and the cupcakes I made for today.
It’s official. I’m a nut. (as if you didn’t already know that!) Stephenie wrote about being ‘in the zone’ and I have to tell you all that I was there most of the night. From 6pm-11pm last night I carved pumpkins. Now, I’ve never been a real lover of the pumpkin carving… but I think I’ve found a new passion. I have always loved the look of those cool carved creations you see some people have. But I never knew HOW to make that happen. Until this afternoon when I discovered THESE stencils for pumpkins… and decided to try one since my little miss is Cinderella this year. I mean, how cool is that! Stencils for pumpkins that coordinate with her costume! AND… Our little Cinderella is OBSESSED with pumpkins, or as she calls them ‘puckies’. She walks around all day with one under her arm. So stinkin’ cute!
Anyhow I carved one (Cinderella), LOVED how it turned out, and since Miss Elizabeth was ooohing and clapping for my handiwork I decided after I put her to bed to do another. But then… loved the castle so much I needed one more. The downside? I didn’t do any of the things I should have been doing this evening, and my right hand is SO RAW from being scraped by a knife and SO SORE from all the carving that I feel like I have a claw.
it was so worth it in my opinion. judge for yourself…
the downside is that I have to wait a whole year before I can do this again. I can hardly wait. This was truly the most fun I’ve ever had with pumpkin carving, and my first experience of doing something other than a jack-o-lantern!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FISKATEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try carving Melons in the Christmas themes for Christmas. You’ll keep the “carving bug” satified. And then theres Valentines day…….

October 31st, 2006 at 10:53 pmThose are cool. If you’ve caught the bug then you need to check out the craft store tomorrow for some of those realistic foam carvable pumpkins (Fun-kins maybe is what they are called) and then you can carve as you want (no pumpkin guts either!!) and then cut a hole in the bottom and stick Christmas lights in to make them glow and use for next year. Someone sent me a link about a lady who did all these crazy patterns of presidents and stuff. I think she’s the pumpkin lady.

November 1st, 2006 at 10:15 amThose are AWESOME May! Thanks for sharing the link too! My “little girl” (13 yo) is obsessed with Cinderella right now and we have a cat named Gus Gus (he’s 16 and named after the mouse), so I’m going to go get some of the craft pumpkins and we’ll be using the stencils this weekend! Who cares if Halloween is over!

And, no, you can never have too much candy!
