more treat than trick.

I love the haunted mansion at Disneyland… especially at Halloween. They decorate it up with Nightmare before Christmas goodies, and it’s WAAAAY cool. That’s my idea of fun-scary. Things that are creepy but not hair raising or truly scary. Even little Miss E LOVED all the decorations and ghosts, and it reminded me that I love things that are imaginative, fun, and that don’t make you scream in fear! Yes, what I’m saying is that when it comes to Halloween things I’m more treats than tricks.
Like many of you I love Halloween, and I always enjoy all of the festivities surrounding it. From carving pumpkins to baking treats… I love it! The only thing I don’t love is the super scary stuff. I guess I’m just not a fan of making my house so scary the little ones run away crying. Witches, cobwebs and traditional stuff is cool… I just don’t do the ‘horror’ type scary. As a kid I always said that I’d never have a ’scary’ halloween house when I grew up… and I’ve remained true to that. I like spreading the treats! Much as I love to dress up this year I might just wear my pumpkin T-shirt and skip a full costume. I’m already commited to baking cupcakes for the gym daycare party, and carving pumpkins tomorrow… so I’m probably not going to have time to think costume, but that’s OK with me.
To celebrate the upcoming holiday (and spread some fiskateer love) I think I’ll give away a few of Fiskars new squeeze punches! If you haven’t already tried one of these you should!!! They are not only great shapes, but also FANTASTIC and so easy to use it makes me wish I could change my other punches into squeeze punches. SO… today I give you no tricks, just treats. =)
(leave a comment here to sign up and I’ll draw a name on Wednesday morning!)
(side note- I’ll share pics of my front door and Miss E in full costume tomorrow…)

October 30th, 2006 at 1:44 pmsqueeze me , squeeze me!! I am like you I don’t like the scary either. This is really the first halloween, since I was a kid that we will be participating in, My Punkinn (Bishop) will be 15 months old this week. I think we will just go trick or treating at the mall, since he is not walking yet. Have a great Halloween!!

October 30th, 2006 at 1:46 pmI’m with you, May, when it comes to traditional scary Halloween things - I’m not into “HORROR” type scary, either! Loved making costumes for my 6 kids when they were small, now I still make costumes for my DD & her BF( they’re 16!!) Will post their pic in costumes tomorrow, also - their costume is a secret!!! LOL! Have fun carving your pumpkins - DD & I will carve ours tonight!!! Please put me in for the drawing - just saw & tried the new squeeze punches last week - really neat!!!

October 30th, 2006 at 2:31 pmI’m with you, May — but I’m afraid that DS and my sister are more the “scare your pants off” type Halloweeners! DS was working on a fire breathing jack o lantern just last night — he has the flames working with a complicated hopper to feed baking powder into a tube, rigged to another tube for him to blow into — all of which feeds a fine mist of baking power across the top of candle inside the pumpkin - which results (sometimes!!) in flames shooting out of the jacko’lanterns teeth! Just so you won’t worry — he is very careful — and learned the trick in his AP chemistry class!
Best of the holiday — which means chocolate!

When I went to visit my Dad in Northern CA, I plotted out all the scrapbooking stores on the way…. and low and behold I got one at a “BEN FRANKLINS” in Novato.
