{First taste of scrapbooking}

Crafts were a part of my daily life growing up. From making our own Barbie clothes to sewing Halloween costumes, beading to scrapbooking… DIY really is a family motto! My mother, aunts, and grandmother are all multi-talented (quilting, sewing, mixed media art, beading, embroidery, and much more), and today I consider myself very blessed to have grown up in such a craft-friendly environment.

My first scrapbook was a spiral bound 11×17 book that was presented to me on my birthday (age 7), and I filled it with photos, words, and stickers from that summer. Scrapbooking has always been a part of my life since then, and I hope to always keep the spirit of storytelling and love of creating in my albums. Of course some day I’d love to share this hobby with my daughter… and it seems she is already interested. These photos were taken last year when she discovered (at age 3 months no less!) how to squirm around. She got into my bucket of Jolees… and had a BLAST! Of course being the scrapbooker that I am I got the camera out before taking the stickers away. I hadn’t scrapbooked these before, mostly because I wasn’t thrilled with the photos. But then I remembered my own rule- it’s all about creating from the heart, and capturing stories that I want remembered… so I got out my supplies and went to work on this page that I am now happy to have.
