Hey Y’all

Wow, My first blog, what should I say…

For all of my adult life, scrapbooking has been my life. When I was 18 I started working at a scraboook store (hello everyone at The Scrapbook Company…). At that time I didn’t even really know what scrapbooking was, but they needed help and my sunday school teacher thought of me and called me out of the blue to offer me a job ’cause she remembered that I was crafty…
And that is how it all started, I can’t imagine where I would be right now if she hadn’t thought of me, my life would be completely different.
From the day I stepped foot in the store, scrapbooking has been my passion. When the owner’s husband transfered to California, we (my parents) bought the store! The Scrapbook Company was officially mine! My four year reign came to an end this spring when we sold the store. Luckily, right at that moment, this wonderful Fiskars oppritunity became mine. Call it fate, call it a blessing, call it whatever you want, but I am so lucky to be here writing this blog.

I love the personal expression that scrapbooking offers, it’s an outlet for creativity, it’s a way to record history, my scrapbook is ME, and your scrapbook is YOU, that is the beauty of it! I must say that one of the reasons I love it so much is for the social aspect that it offers. There is always that common bond between fellow scrapbookers/crafters. It’s our differences that make us unique and scrapbooking gives us a way to share those differences and make real connections. When I am done looking at someone’s scrapbook I feel like I know them, I know their family, I know their loves, I know their style. What other hobby offers immediate, genuine and lasting personal connections? How can you not love it?!
Running a store amplified it even more -don’t get me wrong, it was hard work- but customers weren’t customers, they were friends, and many became family. It’s such an amazing expirence to have that day in and day out. I miss it terribly now that I don’t spend every waking minute at my store with my friends. I am so lucky to be able to take those friendships with me now and expand it to this wonderful Fiskars world!
I can’t wait!
